Feedback[edit]

Following your request for feedback on the featured list page, I thought this would be a good place to put some. First, let me say I really like the "list of popes" format, and it works great here. I can see this is still a work in progress, but, here are some things you may or may not have thought about:

  • Needs a good lead section
  • Needs more references
  • Needs pictures
  • Needs a "see also" section for related articles
  • And, I hate to say it, but this list has way too many red links for my liking. A list should serve to help the reader in navigation; red links are not very useful in navigation, because they are dead ends for those who are looking for that topic.

All in all though, if this format is followed through, I'm sure it will be featured, so good work! --Dmcdevit 19:28, 28 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure exactly what this list is used for. You have included pelimanni music, which is what they call the traditional dance music, mostly fiddle based, in Finland. However, higly related traditions exist in the Nordic countries Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark. After a long struggle what to name an article about this genre, I called it Nordic folk dance music. Include it in your list, if you like. / Habj 11:56, 6 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ireland[edit]

I'm impressed with the depth of knowledge of Irish music, but I'm puzzled by the word 'loobeen'. I've never met it before. Can you give us some idea what it means? I've replaced 'trad' with 'ballads' as popular music, since 'trad' really describes our folk music. I've also put in 'John Field' under 'classical' as he really is our only classical composer of note. Apologies if you really did not want individual names in there.
