Requested move[edit]

  • The move requires an admin because the target page has a history (redirect was changed once). The change in spelling will conform to the simplified National system of transliteration, consistent with all other Ukrainian oblasts (provinces), and with the capital city Vinnytsia.

  • Support. This is the product of a very thorough discussion between us at the link below. It's just a matter of consistency, no hypothetical controversies can possibly arise out of this. Irpen 15:25, May 13, 2005 (UTC)

Previous discussion about this and other renaming of Ukrainian oblasts took place at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ukrainian subdivisions#Proposed renaming. Michael Z. 2005-05-13 05:09 Z

I have no thoughts on the transliteration, but to make things easier, I have removed the old redirect which prevented the move. --Henrygb 00:14, 14 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Moved now. Irpen 20:13, May 14, 2005 (UTC)

Vinnytsia --> Venice[edit]

Does the name Vinnytsia, originally come from the name Venice? Because in Polish Venice is, Wenecja, which could have gone through a few changes over the years and turned into Winnycja.

e-e no strongly not well, nobody knows sure. the name Vinnytsia came from the name of little river or it is one of that strange ancient words.

If you have any questions about Vinnytsia --> skazi_trun@mail.ru I`m living there
