Images/optics[edit]

Hi Npettiaux,

You wrote:

"You created beautiful pictures in commons.wikipedia.org for physics (optics). I think it would be intereresting to have also the source to manipulate / modify the picture, and know which (hopefully) free software you have used to create it. THanks anyway."

Sorry for answering so late, I was without access to Wikipedia... Well, I created the pictures in Inkscape, and I had the SVG code of all them, but I can't send them before wednesday because they are in my other computer (about 200 miles from where I'm now). If you're still interested, I could send a message to you as soon as I post the code of the images.

Again, sorry. Cheers, Marcelo R. 19:12, 19 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Audiveris (Java), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.softsea.com/review/Audiveris.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Audiveris (Java), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Audiveris (Java) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Hairhorn (talk) 22:23, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright[edit]

You wrote: "i have not yet written to the authors but I suppose that their description of this software that I copied is under a licence that is compatible with wikipedia." Sorry, that is absolutely the wrong way round, "suppose" is not good enough, you must not copy anything into Wikipedia unless it is public-domain, or the source clearly states that it is released under a compatible license (which requires much more than permission to reproduce), or a release has first been made as described at WP:Donating copyrighted materials. This page is actually labelled "Copyright © 2006 - 2010 SoftSea.com. All rights reserved", but absence of a copyright notice would not have meant anything - see Wikipedia:Copy-paste. In fact, it is usually better to write in your own words, because material written for other purposes is very likely to be too promotional for Wikipedia, which requires a neutral point of view. Project Euler solutions[edit]

The fact that some people put solutions to Project Euler solutions on the web, doesn't make these pages good links, because those solution pages are contary to the spirit of Project Euler. Moreover, there exist solution pages in several programming languages. I'm not sure why Python should be the solution pages that need to be linked to. Proposed deletion of Suzanne Yoakum[edit]

The article Suzanne Yoakum has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable person, doesn't seem to meet WP:BIO or WP:PROF.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The article Kalle-Antti Suominen has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Please see Wikipedia:Translation to learn about requests for, and coordination of, translations from foreign-language Wikipedias into English.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. French Physicists[edit]

Hi, I work on the new page log and I saw that you just wrote a tone of one-line stubs about french physicists. Some of them look OK, but the one's where you only use initials rather than names are almost certain to be deleted by someone. I suspect many of the people you write about are important, but because you use initials rather than names, we can't verify that as easily. I suspect many new page patrol users will simply delete the page rather than do the work needed to follow up. Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions. The best way I've found to keep a short article around is to make it as clear as possible what the information is and why it's significant. Change all of your names with initials into full names, mark them all as stubs so that they can be sorted into categories quickly. Next step would be to make sure there are plenty of blue links in whatever prose you've written and to add a citation at the bottom. Many of these people are alive today and wikipedia generally doesn't like to see BLP (biography of a living person) without any citations. Also check to make sure your page isn't an orpahn. I'm going to pick one of your articles that has been prodded and try to save it. If I'm successful, then I'll show you which article and you can use it as a form to try and work on the other articles. Happy Editing! Ryan shell (talk) 18:50, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
