Unbeknownst to McAlmon, Hemingway recommended that Shuster & Sons publish one of his books, but editor Max Perkins (also editor to F. Scott Fitzgerald, Callaghan, and others) declined when McAlmon made repeated disparaging remarks about Hemingway to him and others.

I believe that was mentioned in Callaghan's memoir "That Summer in Paris," in which a detailed sketch of McAlmon is given.

It is interesting, how interesting the works of the "unknown" writers published by McAlmon seem to be. Gertrude Beasley has some interesting websites, Emanuel Carnevali has an italian WP-entry and also some sites.--Radh (talk) 12:39, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
