Should Archbishop of Armagh really redirect here? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Isn't this rather like having King of England redirect to Defender of the Faith? john k 03:22, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Yes. Actually, the two things should be quite separate. Curiously, I see that the CoI has a distinct Archbishop article now, and the RCC does not... The "day job" is Archbishop of Armagh, the superior titular role of Primate coming into play on limited occasions. Mind you, the roles are more tightly combined, and more notable perhaps, in the CoI, where the Archbishop of Armagh / Primate of All-Ireland is distinct from all other bishops, notably having a unique form of election. And then there is the question of perhaps merging this article with the Primate of Ireland one, which actually contains more on the disputes between the two (whereas the Diocesan History currently listed as covering same has little to say on the matter, with more on other disputes between Dublin and Armagh). 195.96.72.22 (talk) 10:26, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge them. -- SECisek (talk) 15:32, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge[edit]

I am proposing to merge this article and Primate of Ireland. I have opened a discussion at Talk:Primate of Ireland#Proposed merge. Scolaire (talk) 21:32, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
