I think Timur Lenk is the best transcription of the name. If anyone has any problems with that, submit it here. The old article called "Timur" contained some errors with the special characters of the names. I have tried to fix them but can someone check the names marked with a ?, please? (As of the name Timur Beg it is a slight transcription of Timur Bey which is simply Timur the Chieftain in Turkish.)

I think plain ol' Timur is a better transcription: It is his real name, and the epithet "Lenk" is, and was intended to be, quite offensive--akin to calling him "Timur the Gimp" or "Timur the Cripple". Also, if I recall Arabshah's account correctly (and if that account can be trusted), Timur's handicap was the result of injuries incurred while fighting in Khorasan. Subsilva
