Ex-wife's current relationship[edit]

Shouldn't it be mentioned in the section about Kimberly Guilfoyle, Gov. Newsom's first wife, that she is currently engaged to be married to Donald Trump Jr.? The article mentions Guilfoyle's professional connection to Trump Sr., but it glaringly leaves out the family connection through Trump Jr. It is very notable and of great relevance that the governor of California's (and possible future presidential candidate's) ex-wife is the current girlfriend and future wife of the former president (and current presidential candidate) with whom the governor has a superlatively fraught relationship. This fact should be added to the paragraph about Guilfoyle here. 108.21.213.213 (talk) 16:24, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As you pointed out it already mentions she is now an advisor to Trump; she also has her own Wikipedia article for people who want more info. Also she is engaged to Trump's son not Trump so not engaged to a former president nor current candidate. Remember this entry is about Newsom not his former wife of just over 4 years from 15+ years ago (who has married and divorced since her marriage to Newsom [and Newsom himself has since remarried]). If Guilfoyle & Newsom had had children (in which case Trump Jr. would be in a potential stepfather role to them), an engagement or living with Trump Jr. might be important enough to mention here. Actually, what I'm curious about is that the reason WHY they got divorced has been completely scrubbed from this article.
Newsome was carrying on an affair with his campaign manager/best friend's wife, while he was mayor.
It was a pretty substantial scandal at the time, and...it doesn't even show up. Someone's scrubbed this article. Cprael (talk) 17:19, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Cprael, if you read Gavin Newsom#Personal life, you'll see that the affair is mentioned and was not "scrubbed". You'll also see the given reasons for the divorce and that it occurred a year before the affair became public. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:21, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct, thank you. Cprael (talk) 19:11, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

French Laundry[edit]

"The French Laundry event took place on November 6, and between November 5 and December 7 over 442,000 new signatures were submitted and verified"

Given the implication here that the signature gathering effort was boosted by the French Laundry event, should probably note that it was first publicly reported a week later, on November 13, by the San Francisco Chronicle: https://www.sfchronicle.com/politics/article/Newsom-attended-French-Laundry-party-with-more-15725393.php 73.41.247.34 (talk) 04:29, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Replying here instead of starting a new thread since it’s convenient:
The incident seems to be mentioned only once, in passing, buried in a discussion of the recall.
It is not mentioned when discussing his handling of the pandemic.
This is a significant NPOV/due weight issue. I would just go and try to fix it without discussion, were it not for the very long day I’ve had.
Stuff like this is why I try to avoid the topic area entirely (except for minor fixes), but this falls under “local interest” for me.

I think it's very notable. He did exactly what he had ordered the state's population not to do. A good leader should follow their own rules. A good leader should act as a role model for everyone else. SquirrelHill1971 (talk) 20:28, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Position on guns[edit]

The article has a very well written, very reliably sourced section regarding Newsom's support of gun control.

In the name of fairness, I think the article should also mention Newsom helping to get early release for this convicted shooter in this Los Angeles Times article. The guy shot into a car with four people. He caused one of them to be paralyzed for life. He was convicted and sent to prison.

Newsom helped this convicted shooter to get out of prison early. Newsom was also photographed in public with him. Newsom also helped him to get a government job.

It's great that the article mentions that Newsom supports gun control. I think the article should also mention that Newsom helped this convicted shooter to get out of prison early, was photographed in pubic with him, and helped him to get a government job.

I could tell before even clicking on the LA Times link that your description above is lacking in detail and nuance. Yes, it's a well-written article, kudos to Hannah Wiley. And why is Newsom commuting his sentence relevant to this article? He hasn't reoffended, a la Willie Horton. It sounds like this guy was successfully rehabilitated, which is allegedly the purpose of prison. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:43, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fine. Then let's mention all of those things in the article. Let's mention his crimes, the length of his prison sentence, the length of time he spent in prison before he was released, and the reason for his release. SquirrelHill1971 (talk) 02:30, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ex-girlfriend[edit]

From 1992 to 1997, Newsom dated Montessori nursery school teacher Kelley Phleger, current wife of actor Don Johnson.[1] Myrna11 (talk) 05:33, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
