just of few thoughts

  • list of companies dealing with gene sequencing, and patents on human genes. A start [1]
  • an article on one of these companies
  • indicating strategic choices, such as "which organisms are being sequenced now and why"; (bacteria, crops, humans)
  • how much of the sequencing achieved for a few species
  • clearly indicate which techniques are being used right now. Adding stuff on micro-arrays
  • shortly define notions of intron and exon
  • a nice picture of a bacterial circular genome with sequences sma, rsr
  • indicate that genes are not the only way transmissible info is stored
  • limits of the information
perhaps a list of universities that are publishing or using distributed apps to sequence lots of DNA?

what exactly do you add the restriction enzymes to? how do you get the dna out of the cells? where do you get the restriction enzymes? please add more info for people who are completely new to the subject, like me. - Omegatron 05:03, Jul 12, 2004 (UTC)

A lot of the stuff on this paeg is about genes that is probably covered in other parts of wiki, perhaps more can be said about gene sequencing. --211.28.96.12 04:02, 30 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I removed almost all of this article. All the stuff about autosomal chromosomes, patented genes, genotype-->phenotype, etc. don't belong here. I do feel sort of bad about getting rid of it all, though, so if people think we should add some back in, go ahead and do so. MichaelGensheimer 17:38, 21 Aug 2004 (UTC)

It might be a good idea to merge this page with sequencing (maybe as a section of that article), since this page has very little information that is not covered by the sequencing article. Axel Driken 22:27, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
