Ingoolemo[edit]

final (18/0/0) ending 03:12 7 June 2005 (UTC)

I have known Ingoolemo and seen him around for some time, and it was only today that I realized he wasn't already an admin. He has 5509 edits and just over a year here (his first edit was on May 27, 2004). Beyond the statistics, I'm nominating him because I've seen the excellent, tireless work he's done for WikiProject Aircraft which includes a succesful FAC. If he's willing, I think Ingoolemo would make a fantastic admin. Lommer | talk 03:13, 31 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Lommer. I can't make a speech yet, because I'm still pretty tongue-tied, so let me just repeat two tired clichés: I'll do the job good, and I feel really special about being nominated. →Iñgōlemo← talk 03:49, 2005 May 31 (UTC)

  10. Support. The article cited below about the B-32 Dominator impresses me; anyone with the drive and talent to write effectively and at length about an obscure, trivial, but nonetheless notable topic wins my respect, because they clearly aren't doing it for fame/money/sex or other temporal, transient reasons. Ingoolemo is a warrior monk; silent, faithful, humble, and lethal. I like using commas, punctuation marks, I like to write breathless sentences, declarations that have a lot of adjectives, describing words in them, like a slithery snake made out of words and concepts.-Ashley Pomeroy 10:36, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. I would be most interested in the Recent Changes and New Pages patrol, and clearing out the Speedy candidates. I'll also help clearing the Vfd backlog when necessary. Perhaps most importantly, I intend to become a frequent visitor to the Administrators' Notice Board.
Update: I've downloaded CryptoDerk's vandal-fighting software, and I like what I see. I intend to make use of it extensively in my admin duties.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I have a lot of major ongoing projects that I would like to cite, but it wouldn't be fair to mention these until they're complete. Instead, I'll mention two articles I've worked on that stick out most in my mind.
  • B-32 Dominator, an obscure bomber used at the end of World War II. Before I started work on it, it was a paragraph long. Now, given a little more cleanup, it's a potential featured article. (See how it improved)
  • Convair B-36, an extremely important aircraft that served as the mainstay of the American nuclear bomber fleet until the advent of jet bombers. Though it had plenty of material when I started working on it, it was pretty messy. By the time I finished with it, it was a successful featured article candidate, with a total of 12 supporting votes.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and will deal with it in the future?
A. For better or for worse, I seem to repel major argument. Though I debate with other users from time to time, we always argue coolly and rationally. I have been in only one major argument, and I am extremely impressed with how well I behaved, especially given the comments being made by the other party. I only made one mistake, which was failing to recognise that the argument was a lost cause.
In the future, I will continue to exercise coolness, though I will decide more carefully which battles are worth fighting. I have seen the kinds of things that get levied at sysops, and I think I can handle that heat better than many of the victims did.
