Breast Fetish[edit]

Really? Baywatch introduced this to American society? I kind of think it existed long before Baywatch came along. Is there any source for this?

Article[edit]

Hey so everyone knows it is 1.1 million viewers each week, not 1.1 billion. The source says so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.194.155.194 (talk) 05:35, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have to say this article is horrible and barely has any information in it. what the fuck is up with that?74.195.3.199 07:50, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And I have to say it's OK as I came here looking for info on BAYWATCH and was delighted to find everything I would have ever wanted on this series. Everything is OK with this article. RokasT 19:43, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Theme song[edit]

There is no mention of David Hasselhoff being the singer of the theme song, I'll Be Ready and I'm pretty positive he was. Can someone find a source for that.Itsmeiam 07:26, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jimmy Jamison sang the title song, not Hasselhoff. ZLMarshall (talk) 06:19, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've added some more details of theme songs, taken from the German DVDs. I believe these are the most faithful to the original broadcasts, but I could be wrong.--GavinRobinson (talk) 19:12, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

LOL I'll be ready is sung by Jim Jamison who was part of the group Survivor. It is not sung by Hasselhoff. 2600:1700:4260:35D0:703F:943C:C73C:300A (talk) 09:31, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:HawaiianWeddingBay.JPG[edit]

Image:HawaiianWeddingBay.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. It's important use the image of Baywatch Wedding in this article, because it refers the last movie connected with the famous series of Baywatch.84.90.89.43 22:21, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Baywatch in Culture[edit]

Some one (not me, because I really don't know anything about it) should write a section about Baywatch in popular culture. Just my two cents!  DangerousNerd  talk 00:57, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Remove rumor of Jessica Simpson's being cast for the film?[edit]

The link mentions "a source," not that she was officially cast as the article suggests. Also, it seems odd that she would be "officially cast" six years prior to the script being written - the article (correctly, as far as I know) notes that the current rumors are that Garelick is rewritting the script. I've heard that as well, but can't find the source any more. ZLMarshall (talk) 06:49, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Baywatch[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Baywatch's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

"Dark Side of the 90's"[edit]

"Dark Side of the 90's" takes a look at the significance Baywatch" had on '90's culture. The episode talks about the following:

  1. Sex sells - Pamela Anderson was a sexual figure during the '90s. Breast augmentations increased due to Anderson to getting implants. Anderson has said she regretted getting them. She had them removed in the early 2000s. Nicole Eggert was self-conscious about the size of her breasts and got implants.
  2. Body image - It showcased how they had to have the ideal body. Body image has been prevalent throughout history especially in western culture. Jeremy Jackson (played Hobie Buchannon from season 2 through 10) said that once his started getting older and was no longer the cute kid, he felt pressure to get in shape. He wanted six pack abs. Zac Efron said that his "Baywatch body" for the film was unrealistic. (A correlation.)
  3. Worldwide - It aired in 141 countries and was the first American series to air in China (that's a big deal). It was the most watched series with an estimated 1.1 billion viewers weekly and translated into 44 languages.

Not in the episode, but still should be noted based on impact.

  1. Streaming - It was remastered and have been distributed in 120 countries on streaming services and on cable. The most widely distributed show.
  2. Swimwear - The original Baywatch swimsuit inspired various versions since by swimsuit designers.

If you actually watched the episode, you'd know all of the first three points. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 04:12, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why is one episode of one (relatively obscure) TV series covering Baywatch significant enough to include in the article? --IJBall (contribstalk) 04:14, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@IJBall: Rhetorical question. I clearly stated why. I'm sure you are able to understand the impact the show had on '90's culture and that Dark Side of the 90's went into detail about it. Not sure why repeating myself is necessary. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 10:19, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
How does including this enhance a reader's understanding of Baywatch? Is mentioning one episode of one TV series' coverage of the show going to do that, or are there better, more authoritative sources that would do something similar?... I really do not see how this addition helps improve the article or a reader's understanding of the subject in this article. --IJBall (contribstalk) 12:13, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Theme song[edit]

Good day. I see that my addition for the theme song for Baywatch is being rejected for odd reasons https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Baywatch&diff=1143234350&oldid=1143228720. I literally used the same sources from the first paragraph of I'm Always Here to state the same thing.

Aren't IMDB and news articles reliable sources per wikipedia? If not, the I'm Always Here article needs to have those sources removed. If I remove those, I think editors will revert me for removing sourced content. Do you see my dilemma? On one article those sources are ok, in this article, apparently they are not.

It is a major hole in the article to not mention the popular theme to Baywatch which ran after 1991. The news source mentioned this there too. See here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilAJJ3WHg6g and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0nqwgu_Us4&t=6s. It is part of the Baywatch soundtrack also. Can you help update the article? 65.223.10.226 (talk) 17:36, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. I see that the whole Theme song section https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baywatch#Theme_song does not have a source for any of the details either. It just cites the soundtrack that does not even have "Save Me" by Peter Cetera. Why is this lack of sourcing allowed here? And when I provide a source (as requested) from another article, it is not acceptable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.223.10.226 (talk) 17:49, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There have certainly been books published about Baywatch – I'm sure they will also talk about the various theme songs and soundtracks. One of those would be a more than good enough for sourcing. Any books about Cetera that mention this would also be acceptable. --IJBall (contribstalk) 17:58, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok then shouldn't the whole section be removed until a book source is provided for all of the statements there? Why keep "The original NBC theme was "Save Me", performed by Peter Cetera, with Bonnie Raitt on guitar and Richard Sterban, bass singer for The Oak Ridge Boys, as one of the background vocalists. The song is from Cetera's 1988 album One More Story. David Hasselhoff also recorded a duet with Laura Branigan which was hugely successful for being broadcast as the closing track of the Baywatch TV series."
When none of it is sourced to a book? I am trying to improve the article, but it is difficult with this double standard. Can you remove the unsourced content from the Theme song section? Otherwise, what is the reason to keep it? Mine was sourced to a news article and IMDB like it is in I'm Always Here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.223.10.226 (talk) 18:13, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As per WP:BURDEN and WP:V, if a section has no sourcing, an editor is justified in removing it... As before, IMDb is WP:NOTRS, and your other source didn't look reliable either. --IJBall (contribstalk) 19:41, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the clarification. I will see if I can find a reference for the section. If I cannot, I may remove it. The article you mentioned allows for magazines, newspapers, etc not just books. I will try to enhance with these types of references.65.223.10.226 (talk) 20:24, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
From what you said, I added a book citation by the creator of Baywatch to support multiple events in the history of the show. I hope this is acceptable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.223.10.226 (talk) 15:41, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Looks fine now – I think WP:V is met. --IJBall (contribstalk) 17:23, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The lifeguard and actor Michael Newman (credited as playing himself) is linked to the wrong Wikipedia entry. Michael J. Newman is a judge from the MidWest. Unfortunately a verifiable profile to the real person doesn’t exist on Wikipedia, so I’m going to simply remove the live link. Denstat (talk) 05:04, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
