Remove the History of Computer Technology section[edit]

The very first section of the article following the abstract description is "1 History of Computer Technology". I question the relevance to Information Technology and think it should belong in a subsection of Computing instead.

At the very least, the content should be reduced to a summary and focus on the relationship between Computer Science and IT, while directing the reader to the other article. For those readers who are clearly unable to tell the difference between IT and Computer Science or even Human–computer interaction, a redirecting About-reference should be introduced.

Personally, I think the section should be removed entirely as Information Technology is something else entirely separate from Computer Technology. Vitdom (talk) 11:40, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That was my first thought when reading this article. Frankly, the whole article may need to be trashed; it's incoherent, and doesn't seem to be directly related to information technology. The EDP section is not awful, but we never explain how it fits in the topic, and much of the information likely belongs in the main article instead. DFlhb (talk) 18:25, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The world needs to know it's Information Science and Computation Technology, not the Information Technology and Computer Science. Science allow us build, Technology make us build more, build faster and build better. We are the same, what we build is never. Science is the cause like the Information and Computing is the need like the Technology. Information is the cause why we need computers.[ Do not delete without informing me] 157.34.92.47 (talk) 05:51, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose: there is some overlap, but the importance of the topic of information technology warrants coverage over several pages with daughter articles. IT infrastructure can be viewed as one such article. Klbrain (talk) 11:57, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
