Re converting from a direct redirect to the summer games to a disambiguation page: Is this the most helpful thing to do? 99.9 time out of 100 someone saying the 1976 Olympic Games without qualification means the Summer Games. Presumably the layout for the stuff has been discussed somewhere? Pete/Pcb21 (talk) 07:55, 12 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Similar pages to this[edit]

Note on pages like this for other years: pages for 1924 to 1992 that are like this should be dis-ambiguation. For 1896 to 1924, please leave as re-directs because there were no Winter Olympics in those years. For 1996 to 2012, you may also leave as re-directs because the rules changed to having the Summer Olympics occur in years evenly divisible by 4 and the Winter Olympics evenly divisible by 2 but not by 4. Any objections?? 66.245.103.173 14:00, 15 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

The only query I have is the one above, why bother with the disambiguation at all? Unless they qualify otherwise, a writer or reader almost certainly means the summer games. Pete/Pcb21 (talk) 10:01, 16 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
