Purpose

{{archist}} inserts a chatty paragraph addressed directly to a user, suggesting how to archive a Talk page to history. This is common among Wikipedians, but not everyone is careful to preserve a link to the prior version within the new one.

Usage

{{subst:archist}} ~~~~

Insert the template on the user's Talk page. Be sure to sign your comment. Always use subst: to substitute this template.

This template takes no parameter.

Discussion

Yes, I know; it is very chatty. It is chatty for a reason: it is intended to be a gentle suggestion, as well as a small education. The best approach is a friendly one.
