Hi Isdu,

I dont know whether the astronomic data mentioned in the Rigveda or for that matter any non-scientific literature could be taken as firm evidence. Not that they might not be accurate, but that they were not intended to be a scientific record at the first place. Which again I shoul say is not to doubt its accuracy. Literary sources could be used as information to corroborate ideas not as starting point themselves. when it comes to historical anthropology as a starting point one would have to fall back on linguistic cognates and syntactic structures.
