90.208.210.41 (talk) 03:03, 25 January 2009 (UTC) Me and my flatmate are very very excited about the 6th series of shameless which is about to begin on tuesday!! As we are both struggling students now in 4th year on university we have something to do on a tuesday night again. Our week usually consists on Monday, uni then out on Monday night as loads of pubs have student deals, Tuesday is uni then nothing fun on a tuesday night. Wednesday is the big Student Night so we are out, Thursday again uni but between 5pm and 8pm their is a steak night on at our local pub so we go there, then its the weekend... enough said. We have mist our shameless tuesdays for months!! The programme encourages us to stay in and to watch it as it is the funniest tv show on the box at present![reply]

Paul Abbott[edit]

Which character if any is based on paul abbott?

The Shop[edit]

i don't think that Kash owns the corner shop, doesn't Yvonne own it? Feminnem 11:55, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)

They both do - User:John1987, 13 November 2006.

It is definitely Yvonne's shop. In Series 2 (Episode 8) when Yvonne is closing the shop Kash says to her "You don't have to do this" Yvonne replies "Kash, This is my shop" - User:12bigbrother12, 1st August 2007.

moving camera style[edit]

I changed the reference from Arrested Development to This Life. As a comparison This Life is a comparable British show and predates Shameless by 6 years, justifying the statement, '"reminiscent of".--Brideshead 22:25, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Episodes in series 4[edit]

Looking at the episodes listed for series 4 it shows that episode two is being shown today (16th), however I *think* this is episode three because two episodes were shown one together on the 9th and 10th as a special entrance to series 4. I'm not 100% sure however and didn't watch them live so don't know the dates. All I know is that I've already seen two episodes of Shameless s04 and there's another on tonight. I ramble, sorry.

I don't want to change all the episodes by one so that the dates are correct as I'm not 100% sure I have this right. Could anyone else confirm? Cheers. JoshHolloway 21:39, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ignore me. E4 first look. Ooops... JoshHolloway 21:47, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy[edit]

What exactly made the New Year's episode controversial? So far, all we know is that writer Danny Brocklehurst has reservations about it. Were there any specific complaints about the content of the episode? QazPlm 01:25, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Subtitles on the DVDs[edit]

Hi,
are there subtitles on the DVDs? Thanks in advance! -- 80.243.160.1 09:35, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

combing the characters profiles together[edit]

most of the characters pages are very short, and offer very little information, so i think that they should be conjoined into one page listing everybody, or for each one to be expanded Joseph mitchell9 (talk) 11:03, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree whole-heartedly with this. There are some character articles which are currently detailed enough to warrant articles (such as Frank Gallagher although even that contains much extraneous detail) but the other articles should probably be amalgamated into one article for ease of reading and navigation. I'm up for doing it when I get a chance, if there are no objections? Jdcooper (talk) 03:39, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly: there is a model at Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps articles which shows how this sort of thing should be done, and although it's not a perfect model, it seems to withstand assault. So in regard to Shameless, it would appear to make sense to have 1. Main article 2. Characters and 3. Series/Episodes as separate articles. Adopting User talk:Joseph mitchell9's suggestion, is there any support for a page for List of Shameless characters? Works for Doctor Who. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 03:55, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • We already have a Characters of Shameless. Expansion of that article to include a small blurb of each character, with key points along with their general role in the series, along with merging of all the separate main character articles into slightly longer blurbs, would seem perfect. If people insist on a full fleshing out of character histories, as can be found on Frank Gallacher (Shameless), then we can do the main article link, but I don't think even that is particularly necessary. Jdcooper (talk) 15:19, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

gallagher family[edit]

at the bottom of the section called "The Gallagher Family" there is an unknown child that frank has from monica, any ideas on who this is, or is it false editing? thanks user: trigg travers 14.10, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

It was revealed at the end of the 1st episode of series 5, after the credits had run. Debbie was watching the video Frank had made and he admitted sleeping with Monica's mum. She had a child from it and it was raised as Monica's sister. The unknown child bit is right, but it shouldn't say it was a child with Monica.

Is there going to be a Series 6[edit]

anyone know if there is going to be a 6th series. please could someone reply. Hope there is. cheers —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.35.214.76 (talk) 16:04, 23 April 2008 (UTC) yes it starts in january 2009. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.156.248.33 (talk) 13:39, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"kids who are convinced I'm actually theirs"[edit]

Surely in the context of the opening lines ".. Come and watch pikeys making a mess of the lives they were given by him upstairs.." the line you've got here ('kids who are convinced I'm actually theirs') makes no sense. Isn't it "and kids they're convinced aren't actually theirs" - he's talking about the 'pikeys' not about himself. I'm sure that's what's on the subtitles. (Not that I'm convinced they're always right either -they say 'you sit on our heads but you pay the taxes' - when surely it's got to be 'shit'.)

I think you're correct about the line, but it's partly a reference to the fact that Frank is not the genetic father of Ian Gallagher — a storyline from an earlier series. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.2.48.247 (talk) 07:36, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ian[edit]

I don't get it, is Ian staying now after his brief absence from series? Also, is that other guy gay or is it just me? :S 147.197.190.40 (talk) 11:51, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV[edit]

I've changed the lead in because the original line a comedy with touching storylines and an ensemble cast make the most of a script fuelled by sex, drugs and alcohol. is NPOV. Just a heads up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.219.225.83 (talk) 05:09, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shameless Wikia[edit]

I didn't want to do it myself because I don't know what the rules are regarding such things, but would it be possible to add a link to the Shameless Wikia/Wiki to the article? This is Wikipedia and it's a Wiki site, on Shameless, so while it's not official, it's not a fan site in the usual sense either. Surely there must be some precedent for adding Wikia links on Wikipedia? Is there a hard, fast, sensible rule? --Lyco499 (talk) 04:55, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

racialised anti-Irish propaganda[edit]

There is some external mention of this perception elsewhere. The trashy characters in this series are given Irish Gaelic names such as Maguire and Gallagher and are presented by Paul Abbott, essentially as subhumans. Rí Lughaid (talk) 07:03, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Shameless (TV series)Shameless (UK TV series) – In the prior discussion, there was no consensus to dab the title with the "UK". However, the American version still tops the British one by the popular views. I'm sure that many American people are not aware of the original British show, especially when not all either subscribe and/or watch BBC America. Even when the British show has awards, that alone is not a reason to make it primary. Psycho (film) may still be the 1960 film, but this case is different. --George Ho (talk) 19:42, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
