Unverified image[edit]

Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:

I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}}: {{gfdl}}if you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, {{fairuse}}

Copyrighted

This work is copyrighted and unlicensed. It does not fall into one of the blanket fair use categories listed at Wikipedia:Fair use#Images or Wikipedia:Fair use#Audio_clips. However, it is believed that the use of this work:

  • To illustrate the object in question
  • Where no free equivalent is available or could be created that would adequately give the same information
  • On the English-language Wikipedia ([1]), hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation ([2]),

qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:Copyrights.

To the uploader: Please add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Wikipedia:Image description page, as well as the source of the work and copyright information.

This tag should not be used. Instead, use either one of the more specific tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use or {{Non-free fair use in|article name}}.

if you claim fair use, etcetc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know at my talk page and I'll tag it for you. Thanks so much. Denni 04:23, 2004 Dec 13 (UTC)

P.S. You can help tag other images at Wikipedia:Untagged_Images. Thanks again.

Jacques de Molay[edit]

Hi cun -

Thanks for asking me to take a look at your article. While I cannot speak to the subject matter (I have no expertise in this area), I can say that the article is structurally sound. You have provided good references and the article is well linked. I noticed a few places where punctuation and grammar errors need to be made, but these are minor. I would also reword a few sentences either because they are unclear, or because they are a little awkward or overly long. If you wish, I can flag some of these for you, and just go ahead and make the minor editorial changes I mentioned. I'm in the middle of a move right now, so it will be a few days at best before I could get to this.

Are you aware that there is a peer review page? I've had a bit of success with this in the past - even though people didn't exactly fall over themselves to provide feedback, I did get some. You might want to submit this there.

Anyway, I'd be pleased to help - just let me know what it is you'd like me to do with this article.

Denni

Hi there. Nice of you to answer. Yes, I am aware of the peer review, but I thought it was too many pages on that list, and maybe the page about de Molay wouldn't get noticed. I may be wrong, of course, since I've never tried it.
I think you should make those minor editorial changes. That would make me see where I can improve myself in the future. After all, I'm rather new here. Thank you very much for your help.

Answer on talk page[edit]

Your friend is the watchlist. While I will not know if you have replied to me on your talk page, I will know changes have been made to it by looking at my watchlist. When I change a page (articlespace, userspace, whatever), that page's title goes on my watchlist and is added every time that page is changed. (You'll see my talk page listed on your watchlist, because you've made a change to it, and your userpage is now on my watchlist, until I decide to delete it.)

If you want answers on your talk page, you have to request them. There is no automatic process for it. Many wikipedians prefer to answer on the other person's page anyway - it's considered more polite. I myself prefer to go to my correspondent's page - it's just a mouse click away and is no harder than replying on my own page. The only thing I do is if the conversation is important is to do a cut and paste back to my own user page (I have a section called From other talk pages, just for this purpose) so that I have some sort of record.

Hope I'm not telling you stuff you already know!

Denni

Hi again. That's strange. There is no automatic "watch" for pages I edit. I have to click on the "watch" in order to get them on my watchlist. I have never noticed this to be an option to change in the preferences. Do you know what this means?
cun 03:18, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Yes, it was a choice in the preferences. Now I have tagged the option to automatically put pages on my watchlist when I've edited them. I usually never visit the preferences (it clearly shows). Now I am tired. Good night!

Enki Bilal translations[edit]

Hi, You've done the translations already, thx no need for me to do them then. Just a remark, reversing the order of languages English First, French has some logic for me since this is the english wikipedia? Anyway I have plans voor beginning the articles of each book from Bilal. One problem is I don't have them all, still waiting untill a reprint is published. And his recent movie is awsome. --Goanookie 21:23, 30 Apr 2005

Just finished working on the Comic Book info box template and the instructions how to use that infobox. And I started already one book La Foire aux immortels. Now the text for that article. --Goanookie 19:00, 1 May 2005
Nice work from you also and while I was busy, I've created another Graphic Novel info box template and the |instrucions. There seems to be some confusion between comic book and graphic novel(US vs EU). I can't tell the difference between them.

Also I've joined the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Comics --Goanookie 14:54, 2 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion warning The image Image:Hitlerjugend.jpg has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it will be deleted. If you have any information on the source or licensing of this image, please go there to provide the necessary information.

The tag that you used, {{PD-Germany}}, was inaccurate. It is difficult to claim fair use as the image is not used in any articles... Sorry. Physchim62 12:29, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hi. Skunk_anansie-01.jpg lacks information about its source and copyright status. Unfortunately, the image will be deleted in seven days if this information cannot be located. As the uploader, I am hoping that you will be able to identify the source of the image, and who holds the image's copyright. Thanks, Jkelly 19:34, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for providing the source of the image. I was able to identify from that source that Chart Magazine claims copyright. I have updated the image information to reflect this. I also removed Template:Promophoto, as it does not describe this image. Please see Wikipedia:Publicity photos for more information. Thanks. Jkelly 20:32, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've noticed you've uploaded some images tagged with {{web-screenshot}}. This tag is not meant to be used for images that came from Web pages; it's meant to be used for images of Web pages (such as Image:Wikipedia.PNG, for example). I've retagged the images below as having no license information. Please edit the image description pages to include information about the licenses these images are under. —Bkell 06:14, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Limassol01.JPG[edit]

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Limassol01.JPG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. CLW 10:29, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Enki Bilal - La Femme piège[edit]

Could you review the article on La Femme piège of Bilal, the plot is almost complete and covers the full album. It is for the momente parked on Talk:La Femme piège, but I think its has become a bit large and yet readers have to buy the book to see the artwork themself. --Goanookie 14:28, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Erm[edit]

"I didn't restore the brazilian link, so stop lying." Please don't accuse me of lying. Why the f*ck would I do that?! Perhaps I just misread the diff, it happens. The point is that The Prodigy article is a particular magnet for link spam, and it's also one that is consistently leaning towards being full of fancruft. We write encyclopedia articles, Dmoz compile directories. Why don't we point our readers there?

And, furthermore, instead of just popping up every time there's a change to Prodigy articles that you don't like, why don't your put your energies into actually improving the article? It is, if I may be bold, not a very good article. --kingboyk 17:41, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Prodigy-02.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Prodigy-02.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then you need to specify who owns the copyright, please. If you got it from a website, then a link to the website where it was taken from with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. Thanks for uploading Image:Ulver-Logo-Transparent.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Image:Leeroy_Thornhill-01.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Leeroy_Thornhill-01.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Fair use rationale for Image:GTASABOX.jpg[edit]

Image:GTASABOX.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

August 2007[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Soprano crime family. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors. Edit war and a discussion[edit]

Hello. Thanks for notifying me. I made this: Talk:Soprano_crime_family#Why_a_list_of_the_bosses_is_redundant, do you have comments to add there? -cun 22:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, I don't really have anything to add... I was just warning you both that if you revert again, you'll be in violation of the WP:3RR and I'll have to report you... you guys should discuss, instead of simply reverting. Gscshoyru 01:18, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. yeah, I don't really have time to discuss and make arguments for why i've changed the site, but as I've said again, Wikipedia is an open site, and I have much as right to contribute to the Soprano Crime Family site as you. If you feel that nobody can change anything on YOUR site, you shouldn't have donated it on Wikipedia. Use your head, Wikipedia is for everyone... But of course, if you are so worried over your site, then I'll stop contributing and changing it... -Shormi

Have you lost your marbles[edit]

Man you got your balls screwed up, you posted on the wrong talk page's. Or... I don't have any clue, you posted two similiar, yet different comments on two talk pages.

[3] [4]

You are replying to Frederick on my talk page, and to me on his? And on my talk page you say: (minmalist music is treated on your own talk page)?

Anyway I wasn't interested in any discussions regarding the article, or genres, I was asking Mr. Frédérick Duhautpas for an opinion. It was a personal disccusion. I don't discuss genres because it's pointless, and people get into debates over something that is obvious and insignificant. You seem like a reasonable person, the explanations on the talk page should shed some light. Genres are tricky, I made a few errors myself before I learned more about them. I have to go vandalise some articles now. Take care, Death2 04:37, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Mathieu Kassovitz 01.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Mathieu Kassovitz 01.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Closedmouth (talk) 14:27, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect of Escathon (Album)[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Escathon (Album), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Escathon (Album) is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Escathon (Album), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Circle-of-Blood-01.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Circle-of-Blood-01.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Hey Cun I added one reference and removed one of your templates. Here's the reference Best Underground Albums of 2007. I'm having trouble finding the "Oslo Awards for album of the year 2007" though. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Cun! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 1,643 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

The article Les Humanoïdes Associés has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I have been unable to turn up significant reliable source coverage to establish notability. I find a few passing references, but not enough to pass WP:ORG. There is a possibility that because of the unique spelling I am not being successful, as well as the fact that there may be French language material I haven't turned up. But it appears it may not be there. The only source on the article currently is of questionable reliability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Better source request for File:Smack My Bitch Up.jpg[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:28, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
