The existence of this template seems problematic to me. For many of the older GGs, especially, it seems essentially inherently POV, suggesting that their serve as Governor General of Canada was the most important part of their career. Lord Lansdowne, for instance, also served as Viceroy of India, Secretary for War, Foreign Secretary, and Tory leader in the House of Lords. Any of these positions could be considered at least as important as Governor General, and I'd suggest that Viceroy and Foreign Secretary are definitively more important, at least at the time. But it would be absurd to have template boxes for all of those offices on Lansdowne's page. But just having one seems to be POV - why are we singling out Lansdowne's service as Governor General, as opposed to other, similar, posts he also held? john k 04:47, 12 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe this talk belongs at the Australian Governor General template. Australia's GG's have been in the same boat. I just copied them really- but then again they copied my with the PM's who I copied from the US. Presidents! -- Earl Andrew - talk 05:53, 12 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
