Tweaks[edit]

I've tweaked the language of the article a bit. I have a couple of questions, mostly queries about details of translation:

  1. "banned" and "censored" mean different (but similar) things. Censored means "they cut parts out", banned means "they banned the whole movie". From context, "banned" sounds more like what you really meant.
Was completely banned in Brazil.
  1. "politic unions branch offices" isn't very meaningful in English. Should this be trade union or political party?
polictical parties.
  1. it's not clear what the similarity between BCK and Xuxa is, so maybe that article should be updated too.
Xuxa is one of the topics in the documentary

Edits[edit]

I've made a few changes, outlined below:

1)Tried to make it consistent with the PT wikipedia entry.

2)There is still no evidence pointing to the fact that it was "banned". Tapes can be found in the libraries of several Brazilian universities [1], and private collections.

3)The NEC paragraph makes no sense. Can someone try to explain it better? I tried a one-liner on it.

Feel free to build on it.--Dali-Llama 16:47, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccuracy[edit]

BCK was shown for the first time on BBC Four, September 1993. It was reprised many times on the BBC in subsequent years and most recently one day later after Mr. Marinho death in 2003. Copies of the documentary are available on the Internet, via peer-to-peer networks, and have been informally distributed by members of Brazilian political parties and between university students. The movie is available in Brazil, though mostly in libraries and private collections.

BBC Four? BBC Four did not exist until 2002. This production was made in 1993.

Can someone obtain a source as to the original broadcaster of this documentary?

The Rede Globo article says it was Channel 4. I suppose someone must have thought that the BBC is the only TV we get in the UK.--88.105.243.4 13:54, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It was Channel 4 - I remember watching it when it was shown in 1993. Quiensabe 16:11, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I produced this documentary. It was financed by and shown on Channel 4 TV in the UK. John Ellis (media academic)Jcpellis (talk) 17:47, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possible earlier release date?[edit]

Just been researching for extra details for the infobox. I have found an article that states the original transmission date on channel 4 was 10/05/93: [2]. Anybody care to comment? RWardy 12:27, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This date is correct John Ellis (media academic)Jcpellis (talk) 17:47, 13 July 2009 (UTC) <[reply]

Incorrect use of sources[edit]

The 2003 Estadao article says nothing about the attempted 1994 screening in Rio de Janeiro, but refers to confiscation of the film from the Museum of Science in Sao Paulo, by order of the governor of the province. I have added that. Will read in translation the other article used to discuss the censorship/banning in Brazil at that period.Parkwells (talk) 19:16, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
