Where did this list come from? I quickly looked up a couple of names and Bellows was from Ohio, Church from Connecticut and Avery from New York. So I'm highly skeptical that this list is of any use except perhaps as a list of American painters. Zoicon5
- According to the history it came from list of painters. Maybe it was meant to include people who spent much time painting in Maine? Who can tell...
- What I normally do in these situations is fix the errors I know about and add a disclaimer from wikipedia:accuracy dispute to tell readers that there might be other errors. But if it is completely useless, maybe it should be deleted... Martin 20:59 22 Jul 2003 (UTC)

I don't think Frank Henry Mason belongs here. He is a marine painter rather than a Maine painter. Do you mean Frank Herbert Mason? Stuffed cat (talk) 22:48, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
