This should be named Carnatic Music, as it is the standard English usage. The local and Kannada form of the southern state of Karnataka is modified in Hindi to Karnatak. But the music comes from a much wider area than just Karnataka, and is practised in more than the four southern states. The English regional name Carnatic was used for a region of the south of India, based mainly in Tamilnadu and including just part of modern Karnataka.

There is no English adjectival form of Karnataka; the Kannada form used for people of the state is Kannadiga.
