Some distinction ought to be made between authors who are known primarily as short story writers -- where the short story was the primary expression of their craft -- and novelists who also wrote short stories. The former would include people like Raymond Carver, Harlan Ellison and Bobbie Ann Mason. The latter would, IMO, include people like William Gibson.

Agree wholeheartedly. Almost every author has written a short story at some time. BartlebytheScrivener (talk) 17:58, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Writers who are primarily novelists have also published notable collections of short stories and deserve inclusion. The list currently contains some dubious names...Sanjay Janagal (1981 to conti...), Hanna Yusuf (2001-)? Inscription (talk) 04:46, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WorldCat Genres[edit]

Hello, I'm working with OCLC, and we are algorithmically generating data about different Genres, like notable Authors, Book, Movies, Subjects, Characters and Places. We have determined that this Wikipedia page has a close affintity to our detected Genere of short-stories. It might be useful to look at [1] for more information. Thanks.
