When did band name change?[edit]

When did the name of the band change from "The Animals" to "Eric Burdon and the Animals"? [10:24, 28 August 2002 Soulpatch]

Price left (May '65), the band kept going until September '66 as The Animals, then announced they'd split. They returned in December '66 as "Eric Burdon and The Animals" [10:39, 28 August 2002 Gareth Owen]

There's something odd about Burdon's stated reason for relocating to California. Newcastle is, I believe, the second driest large city in England - the whole of the urban North East is in the lowest national rainfall category. It could hardly be othewise, situated as it is in the rain shadow of the highest land in England. Up there the rain can certainly come sideways, as the local saying has it.

The current Animals[edit]

This needs clarifying as there is 'Eric Burdon and The Animals' and 'The Animals and Friends' both presently touring. My suggestion would be to call 'The Animals' currently inactive and mention the two acts that presently tour. Tom Green (talk) 22:34, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NME Poll Winners Concerts & Greatest Hits Live (Rip It to Shreds)[edit]

I believe that the NME Poll Winners Concerts of the 1960s were held at the Empire Pool (Wembley Arena), not Wembley Stadium. In addition, I believe that The Animals album Greatest Hits Live (Rip It to Shreds) would have also been recorded at Wembley Arena, and not Wembley Stadium. Can anyone confirm this? Best Regards. Is this The Animals page or Animals and Friends page?[edit]

I question why so much content on The Animals page is being dedicated to the band ‘Animals & Friends’ when it is a completely separate tribute band later formed by drummer John Steel after the disbandment of The Animals in 2001. The page also lists his band members as being the present day members of ‘The Animals’ and they are even included in The Animals timeline when the band is certainly not a continuation of The Animals, but is only the solo continuation of John Steel. Surely this information should be on the John Steel Wikipedia page and not on The Animals page. If such detailed and lengthy content is to be allowed on this page to promote a later splinter band then why not also promote the current activities and members of ‘Eric Burdon and The Animals’ which is currently touring, as well as Hilton Valentine and Alan Price’s present day activities? The page also seems to have very little content about The Animals band that toured the World and recorded as ‘The Animals’ from 1993-1995,1995-1999 featuring Hilton Valentine and John Steel, which is only briefly listed on this page under the name of Animals II which was a pseudo name they used only occasionally in certain territories, or any mention of Animals III from 2007 onwards. I do have a strong suspicion that this page has been manipulated to give publicity to the Animals & Friends tribute band and also give the impression that the band is a continuation of The Animals, possibly to have an influence in the earlier Steel v Burdon trademark dispute? Pete Barton dates?[edit]

It's a very, very minor point, but the article has Pete Barton leaving "The Animals and Friends" in 2012 (article body text) and 2011 (members list at the bottom), yet he was playing with the group when I saw them on the "Ultimate Rhythm and Blues Tour" in late 2014.
