New Conflucting Sorce for legality of marital rape in China[edit]

After doing a bit of digging I was able to find a SCMP artical on law change that outlaws marital rape that dates to Oct 7th 2005[1]. it seems to be poorly translated with the tone of the artical changing and for the life of me I cant find the law that they are refrincing. if anyone can help that would be fantastic.

"albeit at a lower level of punishment"[edit]

The above sentence was picked up from the 4th paragraph of the top of the article.

Although rape being obviously a despicable and heinous crime, including marital rape, it is not clear at all in the article, what level of low level of punishment is considered for marital rape when comparing to common standard rape by unknown people, i.e., when the raper is a stranger?

Does - in Western countries for example - marital rape have the same legal punishment as any other rape (raper being a stranger)? Strictly legally speaking, does the marriage provide any sort of mitigating factor?

A further explanation/topic in the article would be useful, considered the article is very complete and well comprehensive.
