How To Find It reverts[edit]

Please stop getting rid of the "How To Find It" section. As crazy as it may sound (I thought it was a load of crock, myself, when I first read it), it is completely accurate, and I have proof [1]. Kakashi-sensei 01:22, 22 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • No, it isn't "completely accurate". Here's a list of things wrong with that paragraph:
    • It doesn't matter what you input to the Dewford phrase.
    • Feebas tiles do not go away when you move off of them.
    • They can be caught with the Old Rod.
    • Feebas are found anywhere on Route 119, not just to the east of the Weather Institute.
    • Changing the Dewford phrase twice, or any number of times before you have access to the route, is not useful.
    • The phrase "need not be found randomly" suggests that it is possible to catch Feebas randomly, which is not the case.
    • The last sentence is an obvious POV.
  • It doesn't even mention essentials like the number of Feebas tiles, or even explain the concept of Feebas tiles. Count that in with the fact that it is very poorly written, and you'll see why it's unsalvagable cruft. --EvilZak 01:42, 22 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Not to be nit-picky, but Feebas can be found randomly (that was the case with mine). Secondly, all of the above mistakes in the article could have easily been inserted without scrapping it all togtether. I admit it wasn't a piece of exceptional literature, but that doesn't mean it was "salvagable cruft." Kakashi-sensei 15:21, 25 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Err, the link to the Knowledgewiki or whatever article on it gives it an entirley different way to catch it...But it's the right way! I did exactley what it said, and I got one. Don't believe me? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVWtUdJHKpM There ya go.

In the Videogames?[edit]

This detail of the article does not appear accurate.

Route 119 has many tiles of water where a fishing rod can be used, but Feebas may be found only in 6 of them at any given time. When fishing, if the screen becomes warped and watery that means you found one of the tiles that contains feebas. other fished pokemon share the same tiles as feebas, so you have to fish each tile a couple of times.

I've been trying to catch Feebas for some time (methodically searching the Route 119 river) with no luck yet. Recently I encountered the above-mentioned "warped/watery" screen-wipe when going into battle against a fished pokémon, which raised my hopes for finding a Feebas, however, I always encountered the same mix of pokémon that you normally fish up in that River (Magikarp/Tentacool with an Old Rod).

After a few more battles, I noticed that:

  • When Surf-Fishing, the standard wipe effect going into battle is a vertical zigzag wiping across the screen to the right.
  • The aforementioned "warped/watery" wipe effect is the standard effect for random pokémon encounters while Surfing, not fishing.
  • There is a different screen-wipe effect for when fishing from the shore (again, regardless of location).
  • Whenever my Surf pokémon was in the lead, I saw the "warped/watery" wipe effect going into all fishing battles on that river, regardless of which tile I was fishing. Otherwise, (Surf pokémon KO or elsewhere in the party), I always got the other wipe effect going into battle, again regardless of which tile I was fishing.

And furthermore...

  • None of the other Feebas guides I googled up (nor the official published Nintendo or Prima strategy guides) mention the screen-wipe detail at all, they just mention that Feebas can be fished up in exactly six of the river's tiles and leave it at that.

Feebas is elusive enough as is, a wrong detail about how to find it certainly won't help anyone.

I totally agree with you, regarding the false details, but do please keep in mind, Wikipedia is not a game guide. Wikipedia is a general encyclopedia entry, about Feebas, not a walkthrough telling how to find Feebas. PantherFoxie 22:41, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I found a contradiction here. The article states that feebas may only be found on 6 of the 272 tiles of the lake it's in, but later states that it can be found on six of the 400 tiles of route 119. Is the former a Diamond or Pearl reference? Penguinofhonor 17:08, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
