Popular artists inclusion criteria[edit]

I've included the following:

Harald Eia, Otto Jespersen and Bård Tufte Johansen

They are all very important figures in popular culture, to the extent they certainly all need to be mentioned here (and yes, I believe they are all in the latest dead tree Konversajonsleksikon). Wikipedia certainly need to stay one step ahead of the established in terms of coverage of popular culture, and I believe that many more should be on the list. What about Kristopher Schau, for instance? Not including him would be an important oversight. And where is Lalla Karlsen? The understanding of society would be totally handicapped by not including them. -- Egil

I have restored the popular culture names that were removed. The comment beside them is meaningless, they are all notable persons and definitely fullfill all criteria for having bios in Wikipedia. If anyone wants to remove any of them, please discuss in the talk page why they mean the person is non-notable. -- Egil 12:08, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Academics, scientists, etc[edit]

As for the young computer scientist I deleted recently---who had recently become a PhD, and published a couple of papers---please check out the WKP discussion on this issue. By all means, I'm sure the guy is very bright and likable, but it just isn't enough for being listed in the company of international stars like, say, Nygaard and Dahl... --Wernher 2 July 2005 19:41 (UTC)

My impression is that this is actually a "list of contemporary norwegians often featured in VG and Dagbladet". SWA 17:58, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

--Please stop putting Dead (Per Yngve Ohlin) on this page. He was a Swede. Being in a Norwegian black metal band does not necessarily mean you are Norwegian. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.106.101.20 (talk) 02:42, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--I don't see what "Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard, astrophysicist" is doing in the list of scientist. He certainly is a well known media person. But he is not known for any scientific achievements. Bj norge (talk) 12:08, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Henrik Andrè Ogann[edit]

He is a very notable football player from Tønsberg [[1]]

Crown prince of Birjand and other norwegian princes/ tribal leaders in foreign countries and Norway should be added[edit]

The Shah of Birjand is a german-norwegian-persian prince related with the emperor of Iran and the prime minister Alam. Furthermore he is a decentant of the prophet Mohammed! I think such prominence and other should be added too. I found info on www.myspace.com/superadmiral and his name on Wikipedia - Birjand (Marcel Kacemi).

With him we have also islamic terrorist prominence. If there're no comments or opinions about the inclusion of him so please anybody should insert his name to the list.

Furthermore I hope anyone can list possibly still existent tribal leaders and nobles of NorwaySimnnn 10:33, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I assume that this nonsense was inserted by a vandal or troll (since user Simnnn no longer exists). Norway has no nobility post 1814 (see Norwegian nobility) nor "tribal leaders", Myspace is not an "Authority" and Marcel Kacemi (or Kacimi) is of minor or no notability, therefore I propose to delete this section unless someone can give me a good reason not to. rturus (talk) 21:03, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting[edit]

Please, anyone who understands how things work - it looks ridiculous with that box ("This article is part of the List of Norwegians series") with all the red (dead) links when there are useful lists just centimeters away. Amarone 15:11, 8 March 2007 (UTC)  Norway[reply]

Lia Låjoie[edit]

I am pretty sure there is no female Norwegian football (soccer) player called "Lia Låjoie". The name sounds as a joke to Norwegian ears, and it probably is. Should be deleted. Antipoeten (talk) 03:07, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Espen "Beiken" Bjørnø[edit]

This person probably exists, but I don't think he is a famous motocross driver (or even a motocross driver at all), so he should probably also be deleted. Antipoeten (talk) 03:17, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alex Rider, Viking[edit]

Deleted. If there is genuinely a real person with Norwegian connections he shouldn't be linked to a series of youth spy stories. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ioan Dyfrig (talkcontribs) 16:24, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
