Welcome![edit]

Hi AirBa, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :

  • RC Patrol - Keeping a lookout for vandalism.
  • Cleanup - Help make unreadable articles readable.
  • Requests - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created.
  • Merge - Combining duplicate articles into one.
  • Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)

Resizing[edit]

My pleasure; it's getting to be an interesting article. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 16:36, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Baidu Baike censorship[edit]

It's quite scary, I searched for 民主 (democracy) and now the site is blocked! Before that I tried searching for 6月4日, but that just invited me to write an article. I've changed the reference in the Wikipedia article to Tiananmen Square massacre, which is how it's known in the English-speaking world, as some readers might not realise the significance of 4 June. Baike does have an article on Taiwan, but presumably either without political content, or taking the official Chinese line (unfortunately I can't read Chinese). I can't try anything else for the moment, I'll have to wait until they let me back on! JRawle (Talk) 13:45, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS it was working again, and 法轮功 is blocked.

...attemps from some domain...? Are you saying that from some parts of the world, it doesn't block people who search for "democracy", etc? It blocks me and I'm in the UK!
As an aside, it doesn't block attempts to search for terms in traditional Chinese. Searching for Falungong in traditional Characters leads to an editing page! JRawle (Talk) 18:22, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

JMS[edit]

Hi AirBa. I saw that you have edited Jung Myung Seok articles on English/Chinese wikipedia. Thanks for that, especially the news article - it's always great to have stuff translated over to English. I've been expanding the JMS page over the last 2 months or so (and I've made Providence (religion), EXODUS (NGO) and GACP). I was hoping you could help work on the article, especially to watch over it to help deal with disputes that have been arising and will probably continue to arise. I don't want to have to deal with the disputes on my own. Thanks a lot! RB972 17:44, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Great. Thanks. RB972 09:21, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
