Speedy deletion of Summer Bank Holiday[edit]

A tag has been placed on Summer Bank Holiday requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Macy 20:31, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Fiesta Inn for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Fiesta Inn is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fiesta Inn until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 01:13, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Resolution: The consensus was ultimately to keep the article without prejudice to merging with the parent company article (Grupo Posadas), though I believe they should be kept separate, and have so far, in fact, remained separate. Larry Grossman (talk) 19:55, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 01:48, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ANI notice[edit]

Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. MSJapan (talk) 15:39, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect 90025. Since you had some involvement with the 90025 redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion (if you have not already done so). MSJapan (talk) 15:46, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article High contracting party has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced, orphaned (and as to that, undefined) dicdef.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Fiesta Inn (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Resolution: The disambiguation article was deleted. I had felt it was important to have it since people were confusing the Fiesta Inn in Arizona with the unrelated Fiesta Inn chain in Mexico, but apparently since there is no Wikipedia article on the also-significant Fiesta Inn in Arizona, a disambiguation page is not permitted. One of these days, I hope someone will have the time and inclination to create the Fiesta Inn (Arizona) article, in which case the disambiguation page could perhaps be resurrected. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2013-14 flu season requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. JMHamo (talk) 15:34, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, wow - good question and point! I will look into this this weekend - my hemisphere ; ) - and resolve these issues. Ernestine Ygnacio-De Soto moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Ernestine Ygnacio-De Soto, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. AfC notification: Draft:Ernestine Ygnacio-De Soto has a new comment[edit]

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Ernestine Ygnacio-De Soto. Thanks! MurielMary (talk) 10:17, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much, Muriel. I feel that Ygnacio-De Soto is truly notable as the daughter of the last fluent speaker of, I believe, any Chumashan language - an entire language family. She still remembers and can sing songs from that language and is therefore a living link to that otherwise extinct language family, and she is prominently featured on a U.S. National Park service's web page about the Chumashan native americans. The draft article with your help has I believe 6 sites to reliable sources independent of the subject, including book published in conjunction with the Santa Barbara Museum of Anthropology with an ISBN number that she illustrated, a documentary film that features her and 5 other generations of her family members, some of whom knew the famous "lone woman of San Nicholas Island" and she relates invaluable oral history about her that would otherwise have been lost. After you added a reliable and independent citation and I added one as well, it seemed to me to be very well-sourced, yet it was rejected for republication. After adding some more to the article I believe it to be even better sourced and interesting to readers who are interested in powerful indigenous women and in preserving the few traces we have of the indigenous language families that we are losing, which are key puzzles in understanding humanity, human culture, and language as a whole, and I believe that if the article is published that other editors will add to it and this piece of the puzzle of humanity will be preserved here on Wikipedia and cross-linked for the context that reveals her true importance. The re-review has not yet been done, so If you happen to have a chance to take another look at the article and offer me any additional suggestions or find something else to add to it that might give it a greater chance of a favorable re-review, I would be most grateful. ...and in any event, thank you so much for the work you have done already! I am confident that with collaborative effort we can get this article published. If anything, my faults as a Wikipedia editor have been the only thing hampering the publication, so I will continue to work on this article, as well. Warm regards from Southern California and hoping you are staying safe. Larry Grossman (talk) 04:30, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Larry Grossman[reply]

Hello, Larry Grossman. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Ernestine Ygnacio-De Soto".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

A tag has been placed on File:JD Mata bio pic.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on Category:Directors from Texas requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

Liz Read!
