As of 2003 Maplewood has the most sex offenders of Missouri's municipalities - can anyone prove or disprove this? -- Zoe

Sally Benson[edit]

I added, then deleted the paragraph below; it appears that there is a 5135 Kensington in Maplewood, and another in St. Louis, and it's not clear which was the location of Sally Benson's home.

Maplewood was the setting for a series of memoirs centered on the St. Louis World's Fair published by Sally Benson in the New Yorker under the title "5135 Kensington" (later gathered together as "the Kensington Stories," and finally produced as the 1944 film Meet Me in St. Louis).[1] The Benson house [1] no longer exists: after being sold it fell into disrepair, eventually became uninhabitable, and was demolished in 1994 [2].
