When I first came across this article, it was in horrible shape. It was not an encyclopedia article: it did not begin by explaining what "Haxby Hall" is (it could only assume from the context that it is some sort of big house in the north of Yorkshire, England, but this is never written explicitly). Some web searching also revealed that the text in this article is a cut-and-paste of another web site, a likely copytright violation.

So, I decided to Be bold an rewrite the article from scratch, based on material I collected from the web. There was little material more than the afformentioned web site and its related pages, but I managed to write a short article which more-or-less explains what Haxby Hall is (or rather, was).

But this (fact that there is little online material about this Haxby Hall) raises the obvious question - does this "Haxby Hall" really deserve an encyclopedia entry? It's doesn't sound like a tourist attraction, not doesn't sound a very important cultural heritage (I doubt that every playground and/or nursing home and/or ambulance park in the world deserves an encyclopedia entry). It doesn't sound like the people mentioned in this article were famous or important for something they did outside their little vilage. So somebody from Yorkshire should consider whether this article is useful at all or not. Nyh

Has 21 google hits. Does feature on a local history site [1] I have no idea whether this is important to the local area, however. Secretlondon 11:27, Dec 23, 2003 (UTC)

Could somebody describe what a "scout center" is? Google returns inconclusive results, a center for members of a scouting organization? A youth hostel? Commonchaos
