Drop Dead Gorgeous (song) was released in 1997 before this film. The phrase drop dead gorgeous has been around for years, and has been reused plenty more since. Drop Dead Gorgeous (disambiguation) lists a few examples. -- 109.79.177.91 (talk) 01:12, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Book reference[edit]

I deleted the reference to the book Civic Beauties by author C.D. Payne... apart from not being able to find a reference for that anywhere, the book description (as written in Wiki) has absolutely no plot points in common to the film. Background[edit]

While it is plausible that "Mount Rose" is a stand-in for the real cities of either Rosemount, Minneosta or Montrose, Minnesota, there is no evidence for this and as such the article should simply state the fact that Mount Rose is a fictional city (contrary to one revision, Mount Rose is not a city/town/village in Cook County--the Mount Rose in Cook County is a hill).

That's a fantastic source and I've really enjoyed reading it. I'll try and get around to using it to improve the article at some point. Guffawing[edit]

I've had to revert and explain this more than once already so I'm adding a note here to hopefully explain it more clearly. One of the reviews compared Drop Dead Gorgeous to the mockumentary film "Waiting for Guffman" but what the reviewer wrote was (sic) "Waiting for Guffawing". My intention was always to include exactly what the reviewer wrote, but to also wikilink to the mockumentary to make the reference clear. I cannot be sure if the film critic made a dumb mistake, or if autocorrect accidentally over-corrected the name Guffman to the word Guffawing or if they were trying to be funny by attempting to make some kind of weak pun by misspelling. Rather than guessing or correcting the spelling error I very deliberately included the error exactly as it was shown in the review.
