Cardinal Ratzinger was not Pope when he wrote Dominus Iesus[edit]

This statement in the introductory section is misleading: "the papal decree Dominus Iesus, which was promulgated by Pope Benedict XVI". Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger at that time was Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. He later became Pope Benedict XVI. I am going to change the sentence to: "the papal decree Dominus Iesus, which was promulgated by the future Pope Benedict XVI". Ttulinsky (talk) 21:23, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"cardinal Ratzinger" would be clearer. Also, I think only the pope can promulgate, so "promulgated" should be changed to something else. Veverve (talk) 22:22, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dogma[edit]

I suggest that wherever the word dogma occurs, the word in question be replaced with more accurate vocabulary. The current use thereof is at least ambiguous, if not misleading. According to Wiktionary, dogma can either be «1. An authoritative principle, belief or statement of opinion, especially one considered to be absolutely true and indisputable, regardless of evidence or without evidence to support it.» or «2. A doctrine (or set of doctrines) relating to matters such as morality and faith, set forth authoritatively by a religious organization or leader». While meaning 2 is accurate with respect to Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus, meaning 1 is not so by any means. Therefore, in order to dispel the ambiguity that may arise as one reads, I suggest finding a more valid term to replace dogma with. --Mustafar29 (talk) 15:34, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
