Hi,

I saw your change to the spider page. My sources give genus and species as Nephila clavipes, and put them in the Araneidae family. You say Tetragnathidae. Has this spider been reclassified?

Hi, In case you're wondering where your question has gone at Talk:Spider, I've moved it to the bottom of the page. The convention here is that new stuff goes at the end. I've also tried to answer it, but I'm not quite sure what the problem is. Might be a browser issue. Anyway, welcome to Wikipedia! Here are some useful links in case you haven't already found them;

Hey :) Just a tip; don't forget to bold the title term in your intro... Keep up the good work :) Dysprosia 02:20, 28 Sep 2003 (UTC)

identify a spider?[edit]

Hi,

Could you have a look at Talk:Spider? Somebody has posted a nice picture of an Indonesian spider. I can't identify it.

Thanks.

I think this is in Family Oxyopidae...[edit]

Do you recognize this one? (Image:Oxyopes sp.JPG) My key isn't complete enough and I haven't found a sufficiently similar picture on the WWW. Also, he was a bit touchy, liked to jump straight up in the air, and seemed inclined to bite the sticks that I used to position him for photos (of which I have several), so I never got to see his underside clearly. Thanks. P0M 2004-06-03T05:39:53‎ P.S. I recently added a picture of a rather well-fanged individual at Atypical_tarantula.

Linyphiidae genera and common names[edit]

I was just trying to update some spider pages and ran into a couple issues, perhaps you knowing infinitely more than me will be able to help! :)

The filmy dome spider I see referred equally as often as Neriene radiata and Prolinyphia marginata, do you know which would be correct? Is the filmy dome spider even a single species, or is it a common name for a genus perhaps?

I would have a similar question for the dwarf spiders, is it really Atypena formosana, or is dwarf spider also a common name for a genus?

And the bowl and doily spiders are listed as Frontinella pyramitela, is it a genus of spiders?

Not sure what to do about those several articles, it would be nice to get them cleaned up and organized though. Hopefully you can give me some pointers! thanks in advance!

--Fxer 09:06, May 22, 2005 (UTC) The true filmy dome spider is Neriene radiata, which is a senior synonym of Prolynyphia marginata- they are the same thing! However other linyphiids build similar "hammock" webs.

As to "dwarf spiders" - this is a generic term for any of the Erigoninae (= Micryphantinae)
