Eagles[edit]

Can anyone verify that the Eagles signed/traded for Fitzgerald. It originally said 11th rather than 3rd.

Wikipedia's article on the 2004 NFL draft lists him as 3rd, and http://football.about.com/cs/playerprofiles/p/larryfitzgerald.htm says he "[had] just two years of college under his belt" before the draft. 207.172.155.74 17:50, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
They just mentioned him on ESPN2 - he was drafted 3rd. Also, he only had two years of college because he had one year of prep school. The NFL requires that you be out of high school for three years before being eligible for the draft. They counted his one year of prep as one of his three required years. Off the Field Issues[edit]

No mention of the fact that he had a son with his long time girlfriend and denied strongly that he was the father, going so far as to have his father say to the Minneapolis Star Tribune that he wasn't the father? Or that an order of protection was filed against him by his child's mother after he allegedly grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground? Is the article protected so that people can't add these facts, or what? I wrote a section about this, will sourced information from a major metropolitan newspaper. This information can be found on many news sites and is widely discussed and disseminated and yet it continues to get removed from the article without an explanation. If you'd like to discuss why you think it should be removed, post something. Don't just remove verifiable, sourced information because you like the guy as a football player. The gossip columnist that "reported" the information Pandabullets speaks of, "C.J.", is known in the media to be highly unreliable and barely more trustworthy than a tabloid writer. Her columns are used in the ASU Cronkite School of Journalism curriculum as exhibits of shady, unreliable, sensationalist, and otherwise poor journalism in major media outlets. C.J. regularly speaks to Fitzgerald Sr. and in one case she spoke to Nazario's mother. Nowhere has any party involved disputed anything that she put in any of her articles that I linked to. Aside from that, the fact is that the people deleting the information know that it is true, they are using the source as a pretense for deleting factual information about an athlete whose image they apparently can't handle see tarnished, even if by his own actions.Pandabullets (talk) 18:32, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

High school information is incorrect[edit]

in the Professional Career Section it incorrectly states

"Although Fitzgerald had played at Pitt for only two years without redshirting, he petitioned the NFL to allow him to enter the 2004 NFL Draft, as he had left high school during his senior year to attend Holy Angels Academy. The NFL granted an exception to allow Fitzgerald to enter the draft, as Fitzgerald had convinced the NFL that the time he spent at the Academy, combined with his time at Pitt, was the minimum three years removed from high school to make him eligible for the draft. Although former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett was suing the NFL at the time to overturn the rule (a case Clarett ultimately won, but was later overturned on appeal), the NFL considered Fitzgerald's case separate from Clarett's.[5]"

In fact Larry left Holy Angels Academy to attend Valley Forge Military Academy. Here are some sources.

Consecutive games with a reception[edit]

I noticed under the NFL records section, the consecutive games with a reception is pretty dated. Retirement[edit]

I’ve been scavenging for a video or an article on Larry’s retirement, nothings showing up. Just because he hasn’t played doesn’t mean he’s retired. In all the videos I’ve seen, the titles say he doesn’t have the urge to play right now. If he does retire, then it’ll be headline news but there’s no news articles on Larry’s retirement or a retirement speech. So that means, he’s a free agent.   • "Professional" was removed, he played in the NFL, he is clearly a former professional player. (WP:COMMON)
  • Removed "player who was", since "was" is used for deceased people, it was changed to simply "football wide receiver".
  • Changed "He played college football at Pittsburgh" to "for the Pittsburgh Panthers"
  • Used [[List of National Football League career receiving yards leaders|NFL career receiving yards]], as well as [[List of National Football League career receptions leaders|career receptions]], and also [[List of National Football League career receiving touchdowns leaders|career receiving touchdowns]] according to: MOS:MORELINKWORDS
  • Added spaces in the infobox parameters so that when the editing window opens, it is more organized.
