Omsk population

There is something very wrong with this phrase:

Population rose from 31,000 in 1881 and 53,050 in 1900 and 1,170,000 in 1911 to 1,133,900 in 2002.

The population gets multiplied by 2000% in 11 years? Can anyone fix this gross error? --Cantus 03:24, 9 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Adventist Church

Is there an Adventist Church, perhabs from Russia Germans?

Orphaned references in Omsk

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Omsk's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Kazakh name

1. Kazakhs are less than 5% of the entire oblast.
2. No evidence of significant Kazakh presence in the past (and even then it would still be WP:UNDUE for the lede.
3. "Omby" is practically never used in English usage [1]

Kazakh Latin script orthography has officially changed as of last year, so finding Kazakh Latin script forms the way they are transliterated from Cyrillic is hard for all toponyms as before 2018 it was a free for all. Now for the first time since the official decree there only one form for transliterating Kaazakh and with moves toward it becoming the official alphabet replacing Cyrillic. As for alternative names it can be shifted down below in a separate name section. On Omsk and the past the old Tsarist border used to pass through the area and was over Omsk, the area below being under the two Kazakh hordes [2], pp. 31-32. During the Tsarist era, Omsk and Kazakhs interacted [3], p. 81. The relationship kind of was, if one was to compare with the US, its forts and Native American groups either in conflict and later populating the area around and being controlled from those centres.Resnjari (talk) 17:01, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Agree and Disagree. Your analogy with US cities is not off the mark, but you will note we generally don't include Native American names, especially in the lede, as these cities were not founded by Native Americans. Omsk is a historically Russian city, founded by Russians, with minimal Kazakh presence in the city, both in the present and historically. For cities, the alternate name should only be given if a) there is a significant presence of a group within a city or b) the alternate form is widely used in English (e.g. "Philippopolis" for Plovdiv). The presence of another group in the surrounding area is not sufficient for cities, nor is being formerly located within the borders of another entity. Otherwise we would have to add the Greek, Latin and Turkish names for every city in Albania, and the Latin and Turkish names for every city in Greece...you can see where this goes... Maybe not the lede, but perhaps somewhere in the body. Possibly more RS is needed about the Kazakh interaction with Omsk of the past, before a better decision can be made about a future inclusion of the name somewhere within the body, if at all. Reading RS so far, the Kazakh relationship with this place is complicated to say the least.Resnjari (talk) 23:48, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
