Image copyright problem with Image:Squeak_logo.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Squeak_logo.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 21:31, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:马海德.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:马海德.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 14:01, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:20070620 WMNR announcement that adventures in good music with karl haas will end.ogg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:20070620 WMNR announcement that adventures in good music with karl haas will end.ogg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:20070620 WMNR announcement that adventures in good music with karl haas will end.ogg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 17:56, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please note[edit]

Thank you for experimenting with the page Image:Alexander Cockburn.jpg on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to do. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.Cutler (talk) 23:59, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies. I now see what you have (obviously inadvertently) done. There was an existing image of Alexander Cockburn, 12th Baronet which was called "Image:Alexander_Cockburn.jpg". When you created an image of journalist Alexander Cockburn, you gave it the same name and did not heed the warning notice that you were about to overwrite an existing image. I only realised this after I have rewritten over your image and it's too late to undo. Had I realised before I would have uploaded the baronet's image with a different name. I suggest that you recreate your image with the name "Image:Alexander_Cockburn_journalist.jpg".Cutler (talk) 17:57, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We've had the odd situation where the journalist's article has had the judge's photo and the judge's article has had the journalist's photo! I have deleted the upload of the journalist's photo and removed the judge's photo from the journalist's article, so you'll need to reupload the journalist's photo under a new name, as Cutler suggests. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:29, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Do you happen to remember your source for this image and where it's indicated that it's been released into the public domain? Apart from publications citing Wikimedia Commons, I was unable to find one. The closest that I saw was this website, which lists the photograph among those that are "available (and have a high enough resolution) for use in print" and states that "credit should be applied as indicated on the photo." Thanks! —David Levy 01:28, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I do not recall. Robert B. Livingston (talk) 18:30, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Hampton Roads Military & Federal Facilities Alliance has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I don't think this group passes WP:ORG. I can find some sources written by them (they are a lobby group), but I can't find any sources written about them on Google News or Google Books.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Mr. Stradivarius 14:01, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree File:Deception Dollar On Table.jpg[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Deception Dollar On Table.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:03, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:Jonathan s adelstein.jpg missing description details[edit]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as:

is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 01:07, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation[edit]

Your upload of File:Cindy Sheehan runs for Congress.JPG or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Avocado Declaration, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
