Adlai Stevenson

His name is linked to Adlai Stevenson, but that article is for AES II, who is only the most notable of 3, and there are 5 known to WP. Without a citation, Adlai E. Stevenson I seems somewhat more likely than Adlai Stevenson II (bcz owning distant vacation property was likelier for a politician of his age, and AES II's liberal intellectualism may have made such a thing feel to him like conspicuous consumption). Also note that of the other three who are not entertainers, all died about an generation or two ahead of him. I'm putting a {{cn}} tag on his name; if we can't come up with a source, perhaps the lk should go to Adlai Stevenson (disambiguation).

Communities

@DiscoA340: I do think the Communities section should resemble one at the Robeson page for the same reasons with regards to the meaningless legal distinction between "city", "town", and "village" in NC, the last of which is a uniquely popular term in this area of the state due to Moore County's and its communities' attempt to brand themselves as a quiet spa haven for retired people and professional golfers. "Largest village" as a label also seems somewhat paradoxical, since "village" in American English connotes a rather small settlement, not 17,000 people. It also sets a poor precedent; in a strictly literal sense, the "largest town" AKA the largest community which calls itself a "town" in Wake County would be the Town of Cary, while the largest community overall is the City of Raleigh by a wide margin (which we call "largest city", which makes some linguistic sense since people typically envision cities as larger communities). I think labeling the largest community in Moore County the "largest village" creates potential for confusion. -Indy beetle (talk) 06:58, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

@Indy beetle While I disagree, I respect your decision and "community" should stay. You have a good point about the word "village" and since you've done the most work on this article, you have the final say here.

On another note, I've noticed you have edited a lot of county articles in NC and was wondering if you were thinking of GA nominating them. If so, I could nominate one or two of them as my nomination(s) would be top of the category (I have no GA articles) and could reduce the wait time. I have no intention of taking credit for your work and I would make sure you were fully credited, but I understand why you would decline this idea. @DiscoA340: Well, there's no major rush as far as that is concerned, and right now I'm just moving around to try and get a solid baseline for some of these. Moore I certainly imagine could one day be GA due to the media attention it gets for golf resorts and retirees (and occasional power substation sabotage attacks, apparently), while Hoke may never get there. If you want to nominate one, I'll certainly stick around for the review process. It's worth familiarizing yourself with the GA process if you haven't already. Collaboration on GA noms is perfectly normal but I wouldn't want reviewers to think that this was some kind of proxy workaround, so it would be good for you to also be confident in handling som aspects of the nom as well. @Indy beetle I have had some (unsuccessful) efforts with the GA process with Caswell County and Yanceyville, North Carolina. I'm not a complete outsider on the Scotland County article, so I don't believe people will make those accusations (though certainly something to keep in mind). Ultimately, it comes down to you, I'm happy to nominate and fix issues brought up in the review (same with the Robeson County GA review) but I don't want to inconvenience you in any way.
