Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.

Organization[edit]

I have taken a first stab at organizing the info in the article for clarity. Much of the information the original draft contained has been brought up to 2015 era vernacular to eliminate any remnants of inappropriate language or inferences - for example the failure of the article to use the term Afro-American, which is both the most modern vernacular and more technically correct than the simplistic term "black." The language used is a mix of British English and somewhat textbookish English (based on the Oxford dictionary) and has been edited to be more in line with American English, as reflected for example in Webster's dictionary and Funk and Wagnall's Encyclopedia. Additional editing in this vein is called for if many do not share this stylistic turn. The Article needs citations for much of the information initially deposited, but altogether it is a very good start.

Content[edit]

WWII to Civil Rights Era[edit]

It would be helpful if someone can contribute information on the County's role during WWII, at least as far as contributing troops, or materiel. There is a large gap of time from the end of the Depression to the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement.

Plantations[edit]

This is an agricultural area in which several plantations with historic significance were found. It would be helpful if someone can contribute information about the plantations, especially their current status as either working farms or museums, as well as the information on what may have been the demise of several of the plantations after the Civil War during Reconstruction.

Modern Era[edit]

As of mid 2015 this article only states that the County remains one of the poorest in Mississippi and so the entire USA. It would be helpful if more detailed and up-to-date information could be contributed.

  • Comment - many editors have put a lot of work into this article; more than just moving a bit of text and adding a few headings. If you wanted to help, you could have at least added some sources to the sections you moved around. Thank you for telling us what we need to do. Magnolia677 (talk) 03:17, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Response - much more than that was done. The Article now has the beginnings of a structure, using the originally donated material, that helps understand the evolution of the county, and so is a good example of how many counties progressed in the South after the Civil War. There were small sections that required editing which they received. The handling of the Civil Rights movement now more closely meets contemporary standards and is frankly more balanced. More work could have been done more quickly if the original donations had included their own sources. Who is to know how much of this is real without that? Anyway thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.167.62.79 (talk) 02:41, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
