Good luck!

Good evening and welcome to Wikipedia. Please ignore the harsh language that's sometimes used on the Votes for Deletion page. I think the problem is that some worry that the WikiLinks contest will create vandalism of a kind that is particularly hard to find and revert - inappropriate linking. You might want to see the debate at Wikipedia talk:Make only links relevant to the context for some of the history about why some people react so strongly to even the possibility that it will increase the inappropriate linking. I think your contest would be great as long as no one added new links just to play. I don't know how you'd control that, though. Maybe a rules change? Either way, happy editing. G'day. Yes, please accept my personal welcome too, and apologies if anything I or my collegues have said has been harsh.

My concern with the latest rule change is that it doesn't deal with glove puppets. The only way I can see to get around this would be to disqualify all edits in the contest period, and link through history files only. The problem there is that there is no easy way AFAIK to link to the current version of an article in such a way as to keep the link valid when the page is subsequently updated. I may be wrong here, I haven't asked anyone who knows the logic of assigning the oldid number.

If this seems far-fetched, I concede it may not happen. I think what the old hands are saying is that we are not eager to find out. This just could end up as troll bait, and dealing with trolls can be really stressful at times.
