Name[edit]

Should this not be under Brakspear Brewery? --Stlemur 04:23, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I propose that the two pages be merged because:

  • "New" Brakspear is brewed in the same place with the same recipes and beer lineup as this one
  • A brand being bought doesn't mean a discontinuity in the brand; compare Bass (beer), which includes information on the independent, InBev, Coors and W&D years despite brewing taking place at several locations.

I don't understand. It appears to me that the two articles are about two completely different companies. One is about the brewery company Brakspear which has now stopped brewing and the brewery knocked down and turned into housing. That company, however, still exists as a pub company. And the other article is about a different company called Refresh which owns Wychwood and Brakspear brands. Do you mean that Wychwood Brewery and Brakspear (Refresh UK) and Refresh UK should be merged? That would make make more sense. The Brakspear beers are not brewed in the same place. Refresh built a new brewery and then moved some of the equipment over to ensure that the double drop system could continue. I went along on the launch day. Do you have an interest in British breweries? If you are interested, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cask-uk/ is a good source of information. I suggest you pop over there and ask if they think the two breweries are the same. Good source of information. Up to date and accurate. From people who know what they are talking about. High level CAMRA staff, brewers, writers, etc. Perhaps, as it no longer brews beer, the Brakspear brewery article should be deleted?

I made some changes, but I'm not sure I did them right.

I mean I changed the notice to Wychwood Brewery on the other article. Snaggles 29 July 2006 (Snaggles 18:20, 29 July 2006 (UTC))[reply]

I'm getting the hang of this. i made some links to the articles above. I'll do them again here. Wychwood Brewery and Brakspear (Refresh UK) and Refresh UK

Does that make sense?

Surely, as the Brakspear brand and beers live on (with the same Double-Drop method, if not the same water), there should be one page for Brakspear. Wychwood (and Refresh UK) may be controlling entities, but are separate entities. The Brakspear Pub Group should also have a page of its own.
I vote to merge Brakspear and Brakspear (Refresh UK), but the resultant article not to be merged into Wychwood Brewery --Stonefield 13:15, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removed news of end of production of Brakspear Special[edit]

The statement that "Production of Brakspear Special draught ale is scheduled to end at the end of June 2007." was not supported by any reference, neither could I find one... now we are in July and the beer is still listed on the breweries websites.
