Content moved from Rosa glauca since the trend seems to be (at least with Rosa sp.) to list them under their common name and redirect from their latin name. Henryhartley 15:28, Jan 24, 2005 (UTC)

...except among gardeners and botanists, of course. Will a fake "UnCommon" name be invented for every species of rose? What is the new name for Tyrannosaurus rex, "tyrant lizard"? The only virtue of an entry "Redleaf Rose" is that it ensures no French, German, Italian user of English Wikipedia will find the entry. --Wetman 17:31, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Yes, that's what I thought. So, on the Talk:Rose page I posted a comment to that effect. The response was that "the official policy is to favor common names where there is a choice." Whether Redleaf Rose is "common enough" to warrent this is another question. In any case, if you go to the Rosa glauca page, you will get redirected here so all is not lost. Also, I suspect that you'll find that Tyrannosaurus rex is every bit as much the common name as it is the scientific name. If it were up to me, I'd turn it around but at this point, I'm just a lowly contributor and it isn't up to me. Henryhartley 18:35, Jan 24, 2005 (UTC)
