Conlang[edit]

In the discussion on Westcountry Brythonic, you state "one of my favorite pastimes is designing a version of Modern English based on the premise "What if the Norman Conquest had never happened?" — but I don't put it up at Wikipedia and pretend it's an attested language!". No, I haven't. I don't even have just one version of it, I have several, which vary according to my mood and to what extent I want non-Norman English to be influenced by Norse, or whether I want non-Norman English to have started borrowing words from French during the Enlightenment, as German and Dutch did. Another of my "what-if" languages (also never made available for public consumption) is my "What if a Romance language had developed in Wales" language. Basically, I took the sound changes that Latin words went through when they were borrowed into Welsh and made a Romance language out of them. I thought of it because one of my professors in graduate school used the term "the Romance language that almost became Welsh" to describe the late Latin spoken in Britain up till the 5th century. --Angr 19:22, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Aren't neo-Cornishes close to being conlangs? True, there may be MSs that contain large amounts of Cornish in them, but the spoken language is inadequately recorded, and much of what is about today is reconstruction or even guessing (not to mention borrowing from Breton), rather than an organic version of the original. Everson the publisher will no doubt disagree. 193.39.159.3

Repost?[edit]

Regarding Devonian language, I can't find any evidence this is a repost. There's nothing in the deletion log and no old AFDs link to it. Why do you say it's a repost? I de-tagged for now.--Kchase T 19:04, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It appears to be a repost of material from Westcountry Brythonic, which was voted for deletion a while back. Also, most of the article is duplicated in the Cornish language and Southwestern Brythonic pages. Nick xylas 19:36, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license.
