B. J. Thomas discography[edit]

  • Support split - Discography section takes up more than one quarter of the page, and should be split to a new article entitled B. J. Thomas discography. Thoughts? --Jax 0677 (talk) 14:40, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support While the article isn't overly long, the split wouldn't hurt. Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:12, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Did B.J. Thomas smoke cigarettes?[edit]

He died of Stage IV lung cancer, but it doesn't say how he got it. He used to drink and do drugs, but quit those - but did he smoke cigarettes? Thanks in advance to anybody who knows. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Betathetapi545 (talkcontribs) 11:54, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Betathetapi545: As stated at the lung cancer link, it can be attributed to various factors, including genetics. We may never know how it developed in Thomas. Wyliepedia @ 15:17, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@CAWylie:Oh, I know that - virtually no cancer can ever be "proven" to have been caused by smoking. I just wanted to know if he smoke cigarettes, and I would draw my own conclusion.Betathetapi545 (talk) 14:38, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You have understood the exact opposite of what CAWylie was saying. Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:23, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

B. J. Thomas and MOS Initials[edit]

For whatever reason, an editor has removed the article title from S1 twice. Once even citing the article that explains why the B. J. Thomas text should be there. If the editor makes this erroneous edit again, I'll have to count on someone else to correct it.Shajure (talk) 19:06, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

To be a wee bit extra extra clear: B. J. Thomas is not known by his name "Billy Joe Thomas". He is known as "B. J. Thomas" as the many, many cited wp:RS in the article make quite clear.Shajure (talk) 19:11, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously I don't know how to link to the mos... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Biography#Initials Shajure (talk) 19:16, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
MOS:INITIALS is actually quite clear: With initials, it is not necessary to spell out why the article title and lead paragraph give a different name. Walter Görlitz (talk) 19:44, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't necessary to have ANYTHING in the article. But I defer to the consensus.Shajure (talk) 20:21, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Shajure: "For whatever reason", if you read MOS:INITIALS in full, you'd know why. —Jonny Nixon (talk) 11:29, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
