Copyright violation[edit]

I unfortunately removed a vast amount of data that was added by an anon editor. It seemed to be from an academic paper, with multiple footnotes, and I noticed that it contained citations from the 1980s. I did not look for the text to determine if it was available online or not. I reverted this to a page prior to the addition of this material and added the copyvio notice. If the anon editor is in fact the author, this can be undone, but this needs to be made with explicit permission (and you probably should have a login ID as well.) Added the Kingdom of Hungary[edit]

Defence of Posey[edit]

the present comments on "defense of poesy" is clearly a revenge of prose against Philip Sidney's radical position against philosophy and history. None of the assertions can stand a quotation of Sidney's own words. Above all the reduction of this extremely deep text to "neo-platonism" is an illustration of Sidney's allegoric image of prosaic insinuations out of poets eggs immediatly cannibalize its genitors. I think that the final three sections (Influence, Significance, and On Method) should be formed into a new page and simply linked to this Sidney page. Main character in a work of fiction[edit]

It happens to be a fact that Philip Sidney is one of the main characters (if not the main character) in The Armor of Light by Melissa Scott and Lisa A. Barnett. Potential King of Poland?[edit]

I see no mention of it in his article in the History of Parliament, but I recall that Thomas Fuller, in his Worthies of England (a 17th century writer) mentioned in his sketch of Sidney under the chapter on the county of Kent, that he had been offered and declined the Kingdom of Poland. I came here to ask exactly the same question, having just read a quote from Anthony à Wood's Athenae Oxonienses:
