Answer[edit]

Interdependent questions! You really have a wicked mind. Either my answer to task 5 is wrong, or something else is. We'll see... 3910 days before September 21, 1589 brings me to December 28, 1578, if we ignore any oddities that might have been introduced by the fact that the year rollover (New Year) might have occurred in some countries not on January 1 but in March. But for that date (or the day before or after, for "3910 days before" may be ambigous: is it 3910 days in between of 3909 days in between?), I didn't find anything at all. If we ignore the switch from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, we'd get January 7, 1579 (or again, the day before or after). On January 6, 1579, the Union of Atrecht was signed, in which the southern states of the Spanish Netherlands accepted Alessandro Farnese, Duke of Parma and Piacenza as their regent. A duke seems just barely to qualify as a monarch... Lupo 10:57, 2 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Sorry, I seem to have made a mistake in my calculations. I corrected the number of days. Ravn
Well, in that case I propose Carlo Emmanuele I of the House of Savoy. His father Emmanuele Filiberto died on August 30, 1580, and Carlo Emmanuele then became duke of Savoy, either the same day or on the next day. 3298 days before September 21, 1589 brings me to August 31, 1580.
