General[edit]

Very interesting! I was under the impression originally that the Treasurer post was mostly an honorary one, but glad to see that it has some actual authority of sorts. knoodelhed 07:08, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Samuel Meredith[edit]

I have changed the end date of his term of office from 31 October to 1 December 1801 to match what his article says. If this is wrong please correct both.

Washington was president six months before Helgas left office, so he was under Washington for a time.

Acting Treasurers[edit]

What does this mean anyway? Is there a source that says the treasurer become "acting treasurer" when a new president assumes office. If there is it needs to be added or the "acting treasurer" slots need to be removed, one or the other. --208.82.225.245 (talk) 07:10, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is no source that I can find that there exists an "acting" treasurer in any capacity. Nothing on the Treasury Dept.'s web site or anywhere else. This needs to be addressed. Cabral, for example, has already gone on to greener pastures and does nothing for the Treasury Dept.- not publicly anyway.The Original Historygeek (talk) 16:36, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Calling Treasury directly yields the following: the office is vacant. There is no acting treasurer. Furthermore, nothing in Treasury Dept literature indicates that such a position exists.The Original Historygeek (talk) 16:48, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rios Confirmed[edit]

According to this article Rosa Rios has been confirmed as the next Treasurer; however it says she won't be sworn in until next month.

Since I'm not sure whether she's officially Treasurer until she's sworn in, I haven't updated the article. Note that the infobox on the Anna Escobedo Cabral will need to be updated as well in the "successor" field.Crazyale (talk) 00:32, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We'll know for sure when the Treasury Department updates their list- but going by what they have listed already, all of the other treasurers are shown officially beginning their terms starting from their "swearing in" date rather than the Senate confirmation date.The Original Historygeek (talk) 02:05, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Treasury Department now has Rios listed as the Treasurer in their list of Treasury officials- although they still have not updated the list of US Treasurers (which still shows Cabral as the most recent one). She is supposed to be sworn in this month and their is now confusion as to when her term begins. I suspect that will be solved as soon as the list of Treasurers is updated, but in light of the other list, I am going to add her here. Key liaison with the Federal Reserve[edit]

Do these words mean anything, or are they just PR-speak that should be removed? The only relationship between the Treasurer and the Fed that I know of is that the Treasurer is custodian for gold and SDRs in which the Fed has an interest, that that doesn't make her a liaison.
