Why the move? This was to make it fit within the developing standards of the project Historical States, as applied to the Prussian state before 1871. See Wikipedia:WikiProject_Prussia While most provinces don't have the problem, some like Brandenburg and Posen need to have different titles from the towns of the same name.Bwood 04:10, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Article name[edit]

Shouldn't this page be renamed West Prussia, with the current information at West Prussia included here? It seems that there was a previous plan to name all provinces of the Kingdom of Prussia by "Province of ...", yet that project fizzled out. That has caused this situation with "West Prussia" and "Province of West Prussia". The province pre-WWI is by far the more commonly sought-for usage of "West Prussia". There really does not seem to be enough information at West Prussia to warrant its own article, let alone relegating the more important usage to "Province of West Prussia". Whether the Historical States project is active or not, the fundamental logic is best for the long term. West Prussia should be the general, linking to the province page and vice versa. Bwood 03:39, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid I'm not following your statement. The most common usage of "West Prussia" is of the territory as part of the Kingdom of Prussia and as part of Imperial Germany (the current Province of West Prussia). The post-WWI district within East Prussia is much less known in English and should not be at its current West Prussia. Do you mean that "West Prussia" should be a general info page, with links to Province of West Prussia / West Prussia (province) (as part of the Kingdom of Prussia) and to District of West Prussia / West Prussia (district) (within East Prussia)?
