Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! --Lst27 (talk) 23:22, 19 Jan 2005 (UTC)

ERIC![edit]

I can't believe you contribute to Wikipedia. When did this happen? Was automation at Intel really that boring? I went ahead and contributed to your user page with some additional details I'm aware of. By that, I suppose you should be able to tell who I am.

Your userpage does not exist, so...[edit]

Hi Ericl234, I've noticed that you currently don't have a userpage. This makes your name appear as a redlink when signing talk pages, or when seen in Special:Recentchanges or the edit history of a page. One simple solution, if you don't want to create a userpage, is to edit your userpage and insert the following:

#REDIRECT [[User talk:Ericl234]]

This will make your userpage a redirect to your talk page. If you ever want to create a user page, follow this link:

Invented sports...[edit]

I'm not sure that they Category Invented Sports adds anything. Seems to me that all sports are invented sports. My vote would be to delete the whole category. Comments? Wikibofh 22:11, 2 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I just nominated it for CfD. I suspect it will go bye-bye. Wikibofh 14:50, 3 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Substubs[edit]

Hi Ericl234 - just wondering, since I see you are one of the few people still using {{substub}} what you think of proposals for its demise? There are currently no substubs, since almost everything that was in the category was more likely to be expanded by giving it a more specific stub tempate. My Apologies[edit]

I'm very sorry about the vandalism I made, and for creating a user name very similar to yours. I will stop this prank of mine and I will stop any further abuse to the Stanford University article and to any article.

Please accept my apology, at first I thought it would be quite amusing to change the article, but I thought about the people using this Wikipedia and how much valuable information it holds. I have sinned, please forgive me.

Joel

Block Account[edit]

I will comply with your desire to block my username. Please do so. However, I wish that my IP address be not blocked. I have already signed up with another username 'adartse' and I will use that one instead of this one.

Thanks[edit]

How do I learn more of Wiki's tricks and tips, like the 3-tilde signature?

Non-notability isn't a criterion for speedy deletion. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 22:36, 30 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That's OK; I've VfDed it, though, as it doesn't look as though it should be here. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 22:40, 30 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
There isn't really a line; non-notability is never an issue. What can be issues are lack of genuine content and the use of an article to make an attack on someone. The problem with speedying non-notables is that they can turn out to be notables about whom too little was said. I shouldn't rely on Google, though, in any case; not everyone that's notable gets talked about on the Internet (and the problem may be a misspelling, a missing initial or middle name, or a recent reason for notability). Aye karumba listed at Redirects for discussion[edit]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Aye karumba. Since you had some involvement with the Aye karumba redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so.
