Robot Devil not always voiced by the same person[edit]

I can't remember which episode that the commentary stated this, but the Robot Devil is not always voiced by "Homer". I think the episode that Bender was the good Santa featured one liner from the Robot Devil, and that voice actor is the same as the one who voiced the last episode. This actor is not the same as the first apparence of Robot Devil (with the Robert Hell) Calyth

1. This site is about recurring HUMAN characters.
2. In "Tale of two Santas" the Robot Devil has the voice of Maurice LaMarche. But in both major appearances the Robot Devil is voiced by Dan Castellaneta. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.93.239.237 (talk) 15:32, August 24, 2007 (UTC)

Michelle[edit]

I removed the following

The irony is that when Fry was unfrozen in the first episode, Michelle may have been in the room as well, but Fry did not see her. (EDIT: This is impossible, as, when Fry claims that Michelle followed him into the future, she replies "Nobody knew what happened to you," suggesting she knew about Fry's dissapearance)
  • It's not currently very well written or explanatory, and it contradicts itself.
  • It is mostly fan speculation, there are other likely situations including that Michelle simply used a different company to freeze her body.

It should be added back only after being re-written to make more sense and cover all possibilities. I don't really think its needed at all. Stardust8212 17:59, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that it shouldn't be there. Good catch, Stardust8212. EVula 18:27, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Heck, I changed the original "must have been" to "may have been" because I didn't have a handy copy of the pilot episode and a magnifying glass to see if Michelle was in one of the other tubes when Fry gets unfrozen, but the compromise is a weak one and I vote to kill the sentence entirely, too. Besides, I dislike the overuse of the word "ironically", which has come to be used as "by pure coincidence, however minor". BryanEkers 19:29, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I hadn't thought it was good for awhile but the addition of the EDIT sentance was just too much for me. Stardust8212 21:04, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmmm looking at logic she would of been in that cryotube but would never of seen fry because the cryotube fogs up easilly

the problem is she woke up about 2 years after fry did witch would suggest that either she set it farther then 1000 years or the clock in the tube was in accurent or that because of shifts in time and the calender that she woke up much later.

In any case she technicly would of been in that tube and take a good look "fry" stated that fact it's been proven in the show that he's an idiot and is missing that brain so in conclustion michelle didn't know where he was. CartoonDiablo 14:15, 10 September 2006 (UTC)CartoonDiablo[reply]

"*It is mostly fan speculation, there are other likely situations including that Michelle simply used a different company to freeze her body." - Not anymore since she was seen in the new film, in the cryogenic freezer that 2012 Fry gets into once all his hair is burned off.

Also, would it not make sense that she didn't know what happened to him because she took awhile to get frozen after he did? If he went missing for a year or something, then no one WOULD have known she was there. Chewbacca1010 (talk) 20:51, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Leela's Parents Names[edit]

On this article, Leela's Parents are named Turanga Morris and Turanga Munda. I know that Leela's first name is Turanga, but is there anything supporting the notion that her parents are also named Turanga?

I believe that Turanga is actually the family name (like Smith or Jones) the reversed order is similar to the naming style in asian countries (Japan and China for example) so it's not really her "first name" in the traditional sense. Perhaps someone else knows a good source for this info? I don't recall if it has been stated in any episodes. Stardust8212 15:40, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't seen the episode in a while, so I'm a bit fuzzy, but can anyone confirm that those are actually their names? I mean, the given names sound right to me, but I'm not sure I remember their surname(s) mentioned. If this is just a result of speculation, I'm probably going to take it off the article. Digital Watches 20:13, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay... so that was half a year ago. I'm not going to assume that "Turanga" is a surname when Amy explicitly refers to it as her first name. Changing their names to simply Morris and Munda, since that's the only part of their names that are verifiable. Bladestorm 21:23, 28 February 2007 (UTC) In the episode in Season 4 where Leela and Fry get superpowers she sends her parents a letter with passes to above ground, on the envelope she flossed down the toilet, it says "Turanga Morris and Munda", so I agree that Turanga is the family name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.19.219.7 (talk) 22:43, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Panucci[edit]

Mr. Panucci is one of the few recurring characters who doesn't appear in the 31st century, though he does exist as a lava fossil on display at the Natural History Museum exhibit of a 20th century pizza parlor.

Can anyone verify this? I'm watching the episode right now and the only fossilized human remains are that of old Mr. Patelli (sp).

Sal the lazy worker from the future has the last name of Panucci so it is possible that Mr. Panucci is a ancestor or at least relative of his. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.19.219.7 (talk) 22:14, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Panucci isn't fossilised to the best of our knowledge, Sal isn't given a last name so I don't know why you'd think he does. - Quolnok (talk) 16:09, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've redirected Michelle (Futurama) back to this page. I don't see any reason to create a page for such a minor character. Please discuss on the talk page before further splitting this article. Stardust8212 17:37, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Labarbara.gif[edit]

Image:Labarbara.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Futurama_George_Washington.jpg)[edit]

The following message was recently left on my talk page:

Thanks for uploading Image:Futurama_George_Washington.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 11:46, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As I pointed out there, I didn't upload the original but merely resized it as it was tagged with the {{non-free reduce}} template. Looking at this articles history, I see that this image was recently removed, thus orphaning it. I'm not sure if this image is particularly needed in the article, but I thought I'd let those people who were involved in the page decide that. I have let the original notifier know that I have shifted the discussion over here. Thanks, Blair - Speak to me 00:00, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trim list[edit]

I doubt this suggestion will be popular and I doubt it will gain consensus but I've been thinking it for awhile now and I think it needs to be said. I think this list needs to be trimmed down to characters that are actually recurring by which I mean characters that make more than one significant appearance. This does not include characters that were significant in one episode and just happened to also appear in another one where they just sort of flashed past. The current list is as follows (apologies for the length of this post)

  • Celebrity heads
  • Al Gore
  • Lucy Liu
  • Leonard Nimoy
  • Richard Nixon
  • George Washington
  • Zapp Brannigan
  • Father Changstein-El-Gamal
  • Dwight Conrad
  • LaBarbara Conrad
  • Cookieville orphans
  • Albert
  • Nina
  • Sally
  • Cubert Farnsworth
  • Abner Doubledeal
  • Yancy Fry, Sr.
  • Yancy Fry, Jr.
  • "Fishy Joe" Gillman
  • Linda
  • Hattie McDoogal
  • Michelle
  • Ipgee
  • Mom
  • Randy Munchnik
  • Mr. Panucci
  • Petunia
  • Mayor C. Randall Poopenmayer
  • Morgan Proctor
  • Sal
  • Scruffy
  • Sewer mutants
  • Dwayne
  • Inglis Raoul
  • Turanga Morris
  • Turanga Munda
  • Vyolet
  • Smitty
  • Ethan "Bubblegum" Tate
  • Terry
  • Dean Vernon
  • Mr. Vogel
  • Waterfall Family
  • Free Waterfall, III
  • Free Waterfall, Jr.
  • Free Waterfall, Sr.
  • Frida Waterfall
  • Old Man Waterfall
  • Professor Ogden Wernstrom
  • Judge Ron Whitey
  • Leo and Inez Wong
  • Unnamed Fat Boy

My suggestion for the new list:

  • Celebrity heads
  • Al Gore
  • Leonard Nimoy
  • Richard Nixon
  • Zapp Brannigan
  • Father Changstein-El-Gamal
  • Dwight Conrad
  • LaBarbara Conrad
  • Cookieville orphans - General overview without subsections
  • Cubert Farnsworth
  • Linda
  • Hattie McDoogal
  • Mom
  • Sal - Though really I'd prefer to cut him but he is in a lot of episodes
  • Scruffy
  • Sewer mutants - general overview of mutant society
  • Leela's Parents
  • Smitty
  • Waterfall Family - General overview
  • Professor Ogden Wernstrom
  • Leo and Inez Wong

Feel free to have at me and tell me what a terrible idea this is. I would appreciate if anyone would suggest that they may agree with parts of this proposal. For example if you think unnamed fat boy should go but the rest should stay please say so, if we can agree to move just a few I think that is a step in the right direction. I'll post a link from the wikiproject in hopes of gaining more opinions. Stardust8212 23:42, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just as an update, if I don't hear dissenting opinions after two weeks I'll probably move forward with this proposal. That'll be this weekend I guess. Stardust8212 04:24, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, I have no problem with trimming the list on this basis. I just happened across Dean Vernon and was surprised that he had an entry here yet appeared in only one episode. --KNHaw (talk) 17:15, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing as it's been two weeks and your positive comment is the only one so far, I'll be bold now. Stardust8212 23:43, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
After a lot of trimming, some rewriting and a snack, I'm done. I can only hope that anyone who drops by in a few hours comes to the talk page to discuss this rather than simply reverting back to the old version. Based on the way AfD has been going the last couple weeks I think it was time to do this. Stardust8212 01:12, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Shouldn't Bubblegum Tate and the Mayor both be kept? Bubblegum and most of the Globetrotters are in Time Keeps on Slippin', and now recently in the movie (basically outlining the whole idea of time paradoxes). The mayor I didn't really see a problem with, he's in many episodes, at least 2 as a semi-major character (Garbage one and Superhero one).Thunderhippo (talk) 06:21, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A late comment, but worth mentioning anyway perhaps. Lucy Liu and George Washington do in fact appear in multiple episodes. Liu appears in I Dated a Robot and again briefly in Love & Rocket. Washington appears several times if I recall correctly; most prominently in A Head in the Polls but also in The Day the Earth Stood Stupid. Of course these are such minor appearances it is debatable whether they qualify as 'recurring characters,' but they technically are.Mad2Physicist (talk) 05:54, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

--Colleen O'Hallahan --

How can this character be considered recurring since she was first introduced in the new movie (6/24/08) The Beast with a Billion Backs, and is highly unlikely to be seen again??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.178.180.5 (talk) 20:10, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree but then again I generally lean toward keeping the list short and to the point. Stardust8212 21:15, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion, any character which appears in any of the movies is inherently a "recurring" character as each movie is technically four episodes. The argument could go either way on it, though. -- Chickenmonkey 03:47, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't say "any character" there could be some very minor appearances which wouldn't qualify. Colleen is sort of on the cusp in my opinion, it'll be interesting to see if there's any info in reliable sources on her. Stardust8212 02:03, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I should have specified "any major character" (such as Nudar or Yivo or Lars), but it really could go either way. -- Chickenmonkey 07:43, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Scruffy Shrank or be Shranked[edit]

which episode does he say this? the article does not state —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.212.58.204 (talk) 23:08, 29 November 2007 (UTC) also when does he state "its because he is a background charactar"? im removing this.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.0.170.253 (talk) 05:08, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

'Shank or be shanked,' as well as the 'turlet sangria' comment, are from 300 Big Boys. I am re-adding the 'shank or be shanked' as well as the reference.Mad2Physicist (talk) 05:58, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Judge Whitey[edit]

any chance one of my favourite characters gets included in this article or has he been left out for a reason?89.100.167.103 (talk) 12:57, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

moved new section to bottom of page
He has been left out because his role is relatively minor and is not discussed in relaiable sources, this helps keep the list to a manageable size. If his role is expanded in the future or sources are found that specifically discuss the character then it will be appropriate to add him, at this time it is not. Stardust8212 16:52, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Turanga Morris and Whats her name[edit]

I think that Turana Morris and Munda should be merged into one section instead of two. They basically have the same information and can just be combined like Leo and Inez Wong. Thoughts? <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 05:06, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
