Sexuality[edit]

The article orginally stated that she was sort of "outed" after her death and that many people didn't know she was living with a female lover (now referred to in the article as her "partner"); apparently someone felt that information needed to be removed...I will put it back in. It's possible that someone removed it because they couldn't verify the information. I understand that Kaser was given custody of Carter's adopted sons, but other than that I haven't found any information about her "coming out". There are references to her having a partner, Ann Kaser, in obituaries (http://www.jweekly.com/article/full/19245/-pop-soul-belter-nell-carter-54-devoted-convert-to-judaism-dies/) but nothing about her coming out in a very public way. Eudemis (talk) 21:57, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Main page[edit]

Could somebody flesh this out? This article is listed on the Main Page and it isn't even a 500 byte stub. Normally I would remove such an entry from the Main Page per the guidelines in Wikipedia:Selected Articles on the Main Page but for some reason I didn't. --mav

I changed my mind and replaced Nell Carter with another recent death article that is far better developed. --mav

Main Page[edit]

Footnote 2 is mistaken. I knew and worked with Nell Carter in Birmingham, Alabama's Society's Child Coffee House in 1968-1969, where she performed as the vocalist in owner David Walbert's progressive jazz band "The Renaissance Ensemble". The band did go to New York City in 1969, but she was singing as Nell Carter in Birmingham the previous year.

Brain Tumor?[edit]

The Colbert Report is not a news program[edit]

On the April 24, 2008 edition of The Colbert Report, Stephen announced that he was upset with Jimmy Carter over his contact with Hamas and thus now only recognized Nell Carter as the 39th President of the United States. This has led to a small flood of editors adding this "information" to her biography. That's vandalism, folks. Former Christian?[edit]

Should Nell Carter's page really be linked from African-American former Christians? The Personal Life section of her page said she self-identified as Pentecostal. I don't think the "former" means "deceased". Kylie20 (talk) 02:52, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
