I have no idea what I'm doing.

You can start by looking at Wikipedia's Welcome Page. Also, feel free to ask questions of any of the users here. Happy editing! -- Merope 15:53, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have gone through my article and removed any personal reference other than to the person about whom I am writing. I hope that this improves the article's chances of not being deleted. I do have many years' worth of research to back up what I have written; many sources which I can quote, but I am still unsure as to how I should go about listing these resources. You can read the WP style guide concerning how to cite sources. I'm looking over the article that you've now wikified, and I am not exactly sure what Mr McNairn's claim to notability is. Could you elucidate? -- Merope 16:54, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK! I started editing this morning about 12 hours ago, and I hope that I have quoted enough sources. John McNairn may not be a major figure in history, but he was part of the United Empire Loyalists and one of the founders of Cornwall, Canada. As you can see by the sources that I have included with this most recent edit, there is quite a bit of documentation out there about him. He certainly left quite a paper trail, at any rate. Have you heard of "McNairn Packaging"? One of his grandsons started that company. Of course, that's not in the article, but I'm planning on eventually writing an article on McNairn Packaging, which could link back to the John McNairn article, etc. Well, I hope this is suitable. If not please tell me how I can improve it. Klingongal 00:55, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
